Great graphics and content and amazing value for money in this book.Some inaccuracies though - one in particular being a show stopper. On Page 79, they say "banks are allowed to loan out an amount equal to it's demand deposits..."This is laughably wrong. Banks are NOT constrained by their existing deposits when making loans. Banks can loan out literally ANY amount they want, constrained only by capital and central bank reserve requirements, not by the amount of their existing deposits.Banks can easily acquire reserves AFTER makings loans (via Fed funds, Federal Reserve discount window, Interbank loans, etc, etc.). This is certainly true in the USA (and has been for decades), and is certainly true in Canada and certainly true in the UK as well. This is also true in almost any other Western economy.To give a concrete example, a USA bank that has ZERO dollars in deposits can loan money, say 100 million dollars (they would need to have approx 8 million in federal reserves and another, say 8 million in capital requirements as per Basel 2 standards). They could get the capital requirements from the loan itself (origination fee) and borrow the federal reserves from the federal reserve discount window. Certain credit worthiness standards for the loan itself would apply (banks are regulated) but in a nutshell, the bank is NOT constrained in making the 100 million dollar loan (even though, in this hypothetical example, it has exactly ZERO dollars in existing deposits).If the authors can make such an elementary mistake, I do wonder what else is subtly wrong in this book. Hopefully the authors are reading this and will correct such obvious mistakes in the next edition.

The media could not be loaded.  Amazing book for a knowledge seeker!! We bought it for my son(6th Gr) book report. But soon it became a nonstop dialogue between us. We can’t even put it down. An awesome book, excellent way to learn very complex topics. Thanks to the authors and publishers to create such a gem. This book is combination of entertainment, engagement, and a great illustration of simplified economy! You will enjoy reading and looking at the info graphics which contributes in gaining broad understanding of the global economy. This book is a must have for any curious mind, even if not so interested in economics. I give it r stars because the kindle version has a few pages that either half missing or totally missing! Salute to the authors and the team behind it. Would love to see a version on global history!

Enlightening book. Makes the economic world a bit easier to understand. Charts can be tough to understand, but they make sense after looking at them for a bit.

I have an MBA and know a bit about business... I just love how simple and thoughtfully this book exemplifies what economics is all about.... I bought for my kids as it makes Economics interesting and engaging.... Whoever wrote it, great job, great contribution.Davi

I love the book....perfect for flipping through....but the cover of the book is on upside down and backwards....so that's annoying

This book is awesome. Great images and ideas behind the images. They choose very interesting use cases to explain the economy. Tons of great information in here.

My husband and I first found the book in Strand and were astonished by the design and content of the book -- my husband works in the financial industry with three degrees in economics who finds there are interesting and brand new stuffs there in the book.

The pictorial and diagrammatic format lends itself very well to an otherwise dry subject. This book is broad in subject areas and builds a highly informative picture of the global economic order - including some complex concepts - in ways that are easy to understand. Of course, it is no substitute for an academic economic text book. Rather, this book arranges and connects the pieces of the jigsaw to present the big picture without losing the casual reader in too much detail. ONE CRITICIQUE - some components of the book assume a US audience (references to US economic institutions and norms etc.)

Excellent infographic presentation on global economy but I believe from the corporate point of view. Focusing on individuals as an employee,the boss, consumer and the rich man's cow !. Part two deals with the companies investment, profits business models etc. The last part deals with the national economies.

There is a joy of reading and THEN there are joys of reading , just like the ancient upanishads written in its infinite wisdom, few off- the -trail books also make a significant impact on a human soul .The Elephant Whisperer &The Last Rhinos are exceptionally written true narratives in a brilliantly produced book format has the ability to echo its central theme that one of the first conditions of happiness is the link between man and nature that should not be broken( Tolstoy)I hope the reader takes the time to enjoy the Lawrence Anthony authored books in its entirety.

This book contains well curated information and top notch infographics.If you're a geek for information, stats, and beautiful graphic design... this book is a must have.
