Barbie Careers Playset, Cake Decorating with Blonde Baker Doll, Baking Island with Oven, Molding Dough & Toy Cake-Making Pieces

This is an adorable set. My 9 year old daughter has never really been "into" Barbie (much to my dismay, since I LOVED Barbie as a kid and collect Barbie dolls as an adult). However, she does like playsets that have "things to do", like playsets where the dolls can truly interact with their surroundings. This set definitely holds her interest more than most sets: it allows for creativity and open ended role play.The set is easy to assemble and comes with a standard Barbie (no bendable body parts and very limited articulation, but typical of modern play dolls). We actually have the exact same Barbie from the similar kitchen playset that also uses modeling dough compound and my daughter pretends the dolls are twins (kitchen Barbie has a different pattern on her apron, thankfully). Anyway, the playset comes with an acceptable amount of modeling dough, but you can easily substitute your own Play Doh, Softee Dough or similar modeling dough.The cakes are fairly easy to make. My 9 year old does this by herself, although it is obviously easier for me to do it...I'm not sure a child under the age of about 6 could do it without being frustrated. There isn't a true air-tight storage area, so you can't save your creations without them drying out (unless you use your own air tight container). That's fine with us as these cakes are meant to be created and then disassembled so you can reuse the dough and make a new cake. My daughter wanted to "save her cakes", so we may attempt to use some air-dry dough such as Crayola Modeling Compound...it would be neat to save some cakes!There are only a few "decorations" to decorate the cakes with, but with a little imagination we found many existing small toy parts that made great extra cake decorations, from Barbie's high heeled shoe to a miniature rubber duckie. This is a super cute set with artistic possibilities, so encourage your kiddo to use their existing miniature toys to decorate their "cakes" and the play will be endless.We haven't experienced any real "cons" to this set. I would recommend it for the age 6-10 crowd, but more dexterous 5 year olds or more imaginative and child-like tweens may enjoy it as well.

Makes a great gift for little girls and boys loved it too, they ordered cakes from the girls lol. Add in more playdough since it’s not a lot . Enough to start with but more is better . Even my 41 year old self enjoyed playing too

My 4-year-old can and has played with this toy for at least an hour in one sitting. She loves getting creative by making new cake designs. We love a good Barbie set, but this one really allows kids to be hands-on while using their imagination. There was another Barbie baking set, but it didn't have the make-your-own-cake option. So glad we chose this one!

I bought this for my grandaughter. She plays with it for hours! This is so neat, you have to see it to appreciate. The detail of what this cake baking/decorating is true to life. I wish I knew where to buy more of the spongy dough that comes with it. A special play dough that makes this product amazing!!

Great gift! Gave it to a 5 yr old. Needed help making some of the cakes but she loved it. I’d buy it again.

My daughter and I have been having so much fun making little cakes with this set. I do wish there were more tools for making cake topping decorations but we have been using play doh molds for added toppings. Playdoh does work as well for this set. Overall a great gift and toy

As an adult Barbie collector, I love this playset. Initially, I was not a fan of playsets with the Barbie dough but I have come to adore it. There are tons of variations of cakes to make...the possibilities are endless.
