It has served me well, it is sturdy, strong, adjustable (can be adjusted to cut 3 holes for college ruled paper as well as for 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" hole paper for the mini 3 ring binders. After decades of use it looks and performs as good as new. That being said I've no idea if the newer versions are as well made as my 40 plus year old Swingline is. **Q: Do the outer punches move or the center? What's the closest spacing you can punch 3 holes with? Thanks.** A: Actually, all three punches move into pre-set positions, but if you don't need to set them at the center of the punch, you can get them as close to each other as 1.5 inches.
