How to use this kit A test tube and special buffer solution is used along with reagent test strips as a detection mechanism. Within ten minutes of coming into contact with a contaminated water sample the test strips will chemically react (change colour) indicating the presence of harmful bacteria. If results are positive then an additional quantitive test can be carried out using the same test kit to determine what level of E-Coli contamination is present. They said add 3 drops to the test tube, but 3 drops did not equal .40ml then add .1 ml water. The lines on the test tube were hard to read . After 10 mins the color strip showed no e coli, but I added more of the lystate than the instructions called for just to make .5ml total volume. So there was the nagging thought in my mind that I did it wrong thus a bad reading. The support people did promptly respond the next day.
