It eliminates picture jitter and time base errors from videotape playback and insures a stable on-screen image through the use of dual-field full-frame reconstruction. It restores distorted or misshapen vertical and horizontal sync and color burst signals. An integral Processing Amplifier allows the adjustment of Brightness, Contrast, Color Saturation, Hue and Sharpness. A Digital Comb Filter provides superior video signal decoding and the AGC (Automatic Gain Control) insures a proper one volt output signal from an input signal range of 0.5 to 2.0 volts. A built-in Color Bar Generator sends out a test pattern when there is no video input. The unit has Composite Video and S-Video In and Out and comes with an external 15VDC Power Adapter. Review: Great entry level TBC - This unit fixed 90% of the problems i was having as far as screen jitter and tearing. DO NOT buy the gray/blue un-labeled knock off of this! (also sold on desertcart) I bought that one because it was slightly cheaper, BIG MISTAKE, it's total copy cat junk. This AVT-8710 did the trick for me in recording home movies onto my PC through a capture device. This device is easy, just plug and play and it will do a lot to fix errors. I am not an AV techie and I cannot attest to how well this works compare to other TBC's but I can say it worked for me. Maybe the internal voltage regulator can accept a range of voltages. **Q: Does this unit contain the known flaws that were introduced when they changed from the green unit?** A: I don't know anything about "known flaws" or a "green unit" but I can say that I bought this one in the last 6 months and it performed flawlessly. **Q: Are the image adjustment functions necessary if you intend on editing the file anyway?** A: There's no reason to adjust anything through the corrector as long as you're planning on making image adjustments (like color correction, contrast, sharpness, etc) in your editing system. **Q: How does a tbc work in real-time w/ out a buffer (such that audio remains synced), i thought a buffer/delay is required?** A: Delay not required. The audio is routed around the TBC and is fine when synched with the TBC video for me. Not sure what if any delay is encountered for the TBC video. I am not an AV techie and I cannot attest to how well this works compare to other TBC's but I can say it worked for me. ### ⭐ One Star *by J***. on May 20, 2016* Did not meet my expectations based on product description. ### ⭐⭐ Does not work well with 90's and newer VHS/BETA/LASERDISC players. *by D***S on January 21, 2015* I've heard good things about this TBC, so I gave it a shot. And was disappointed. Controls and ease of use are good. But, this does not work nicely with my Sony EDV-9000 Beta player. Nor does it work too well with any of my early to mid 90's VHS and laserdisc equipment. The EDV 9000 was the worst though. Here are the problems with this TBC. -Very bad ghosting. Occurs randomly. -Frame drops. This is not from the disc write, but from the actual TBC unit. -Frame bending. The top of the image frame is bent to the right which causes the image capture to lose about 5-8% of the capture space. This all occurred while connecting my hardware via s-video. Not sure what composite looks like, but I stay away from composite connections since s-video produces superior image quality. Not recommended for analog equipment from 90's and forward. I've heard it works fine with older equipment, perhaps 80's beta and vhs players.
