Thanks** A: I made exactly what you are asking about from 2 older file cabinets I had that were this size. First of all, the counter-top will be 24 inches deep and these are only 18 inches deep, so you need to make a frame to support the back of the counter-top. I made my frame out of 2x4s. I made one 2x4 leg (the same height as the file cabinets) for each end, then spanned the 6 foot length by sandwiching the legs between two 2x4s at the top and two at the bottom of the legs. I put the lower 2x4s at about 6 inches above the ground to also serve as a foot rest. I put a plank over the lower 2x4s to make a shelf for power strips or whatever. After resting the counter-top on the file cabinets, pushing it back so the front lip of the counter-top caught on the top front edge of the file cabinet, I set the frame in place across the rear. I then fastened the frame to the underside of the counter-top with 3 "L" brackets to keep the frame in place. That way, much of the weight of your printer, etc. is supported by the 2x4 frame and the counter-top won't slide around or tip.
