## Overview

The Noctua NF-A14 PWM is a premium 140mm PC cooling fan engineered for ultra-quiet operation and exceptional durability. Featuring advanced aerodynamic design and PWM speed control, it delivers up to 140.2 m³/h airflow at a whisper-quiet 24.6 dB(A). Its robust build ensures over 150,000 hours of reliable performance, making it a top choice for professionals seeking silent, efficient cooling in cases, radiators, and ventilation setups.

## Description

Product description The NF-A14 is a premium quality quiet 140mm fan with a square frame that complies with Noctua’s AAO(Advanced Acoustic Optimisation) standard. Its square shape and 140mm mounting holes (124.5mm spacing) make it ideal for use on watercooling radiators or as an upgrade for 140mm case fans. Featuring sophisticated aerodynamic design measures such as Flow Acceleration Channels, the NF-A14 further improves the renowned quiet cooling performance of the award-winning NF-P14. The PWM version sports Noctua’s custom designed NE-FD1 IC for fully automatic speed control via 4-pin fan headers and comes with a Low-Noise-Adaptor to reduce the maximum speed during PWM control from 1500rpm to 1200rpm. Its performance-oriented 1500rpm top speed and comprehensive speed control options make the NF-A14 PWM an elite choice for users who strive to strike a perfect balance between excellent cooling capacity and superb quietness of operation, be it on watercooling radiators, on heatsinks or in case ventilation. Square 140mm frame The NF-A14's square 140mm frame with 140mm mounting holes (124.5mm spacing) makes it a premium grade replacement for common 140mm case fans and perfect for use on 140mm water cooling radiators, where its square shape will ensure full coverage and best pressure performance. Flow Acceleration Channels The NF-A14 impeller features suction side Flow Acceleration Channels. By speeding up the airflow at the crucial outer blade regions, this measure reduces suction side flow separation and thus leads to better efficiency and lower vortex noise. SSO2 Bearing The NF-A14 features the further optimised second generation of Noctua's renowned, time-tested SSO bearing. With SSO2, the rear magnet is placed closer to the axis to provide even better stabilisation, precision and durability. Integrated anti-vibration pads Integrated anti-vibration pads made from extra-soft silicone minimise the transmission of minute vibrations while maintaining full compatibility with all standard screws and other mounting systems. Scope of delivery NA-RC7 Low-Noise Adaptor (L.N.A) NA-YC1 4-pin PWM y-cable NA-EC1 30cm extension cable 4x NA-AV1 anti-vibration mounts Fan screws AAO frame Noctua's AAO (Advanced Acoustic Optimisation) frames feature integrated anti-vibration pads as well as Noctua's proprietary Stepped Inlet Design and Inner Surface Microstructures, both of which further refine the fan's performance/noise efficiency.

Review: Best fan I ever used, not best looking. - I recently bought a prebuilt pc which has 1 intake fan and 3 rgb exhaust fans (all 120mm). It was working fine, however last few weeks with summer heat wave here in cali. I could feel my pc getting really hot while gaming and checked temps, cpu was in the high 80s and system temp in the 70s. I have ryzen 5 3600 with stock cooler btw. I felt with the case and fans I had, there wasn't enough intake air coming in fast enough so looked on desertcart for an additional fan. While searching I kept seeing noctua fans appearing with high reviews, however the brown colors turned me away. But after reading reviews and people saying it is the best fan to cool and stays quiet. I decided to order one to test it and my front fan location are out of the pc case glass view. In few days I received the fan and wow, I was impressed of the packaging alone. Came in a nice sturdy box and nicely packaged, felt like a premium item. It came with the fan, y splitter, screws, rubber screws, extension cable and a low wattage cable to keep the fan pwm at lower speed if needed. Took the front cover off of my case, had to do some arrangement because 120 mm fan was in the middle slot. I moved that one to the top and noctua to the middle slot. I plugged the y splitter into the motherboard fan header and plugged the noctua fan with the extension cable to the 4pin port and the previous 120 mm fan to the 3pin port of the splitter. Put the case together and powered up and saw all the fans turned on, went into bios to check for pwn and fans connection. Everything worked out great, my temperatures have drops by 5-10 degrees and i don't even hear fan's noise or vibration. When I open my glass side door and just put my hand inside the pc, I can feel a nice flow of cold air blowing towards my gpu and cpu. The cons I would say are the cables are little stiff and takes some time to bend to cable management and the aesthetics. Hopefully one day they will make some rgb fans haha. I always used stock fans or cheap ones I found online, however this is the best quality fan I ever used and would highly recommend.
Review: Noctua NF-A14 PWM - one of the greatest fans ever made - I've been a strong supporter for the Noctua REDUX line and have been using them in all situations where ever possible. But, I am currently building a "new" computer in a modern case and wanted to make a statement. So, this computer will be all Noctua "Classic Line" (Brown and Tan) using the best of choices as needed. The NF-A14 PWM meets those needs, having a great mix of high airflow, low noise and high static pressure. it was an obvious choice in my black "Cougar Uniface S" case. The quality of the fan and the startling contrast will make this build a real beauty. I'd post a photo but with 5 different brand fans in it, it sorta looks like a junkyard build. Maybe later when it's complete. To add another point, when we talk about the lifetime of your basic sleeve or ball bearing fan, that time span might run from less than a year to maybe 2 years. Some will claim longer, but I run these systems 24/7 365 days a year - that's 8736 hours of power on time. For those 8 hour a day, every day users that power off, that's only 2912 hours. My systems run 3 times as many hours. I've put other brands cheap fans in cases when people drop off a box of parts and ask me to build them a computer. In several such builds, those fans have failed in as little as 3 months. In all situations where I was able to convince people that "proper" cooling was a more serious part of the system design, I used Noctua fans. It's going on 16 years, dozens of builds and perhaps upwards of 130 Noctua fans and I have NEVER had one up and fail. That being said, I do have one that is about 15 years old - 9 years passed it's warranty date - that needs a push to start every so often. Once started, it runs at full speed and is just as quite as its twin of the same age. But, we are not talking about a few months or a year or two, we are talking about a company that makes fans to last and last and last. And to top it off, it is this very thing that has inspired other companies to stop making cheap trash products and start making something really worth putting their brand on. With my choice of the Noctua NF-A14 PWM and all other Noctua products, I feel that I am investing in more than just an excellent line of products. I am investing in a concept, an ideal if you will, with a company that believes in their products and designs as well as providing exceptional support for the simple to extreme. ========== I had to cut up two of their 20cm fan frames to fit in a case that was not made for their fans. But, I was determined and sent them an email about what I was doing with pictures. Their reply was not what I expected: They were excited that someone would go through all this trouble and obvious financial risk to resolve a problem like this. Instead of the usual "You know you are voiding the warranty." and "Our products are not meant to be cut up like that." The reply I got was more like, "Wow, cool!" My kind of people! Note: I have not received, expect to receive or been offered, any kind of compensation for these facts, statements or my opinion. ===== Fourth fan recently arrived in excellent condition. All I can say about these products is that while they may seem a bit pricey at first, I've never had to replace one for failing. And, again...we are talking about a period of many years. I'll never use a ball or sleeve bearing fan again.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Is this a regular box fan**
A: I'm a regular boxing fan. I like MMA too.

**Q: Has anyone experienced a clicking motor noise caused by PWM ?**
A: It is because you have it hooked up to a 3 pin source. PWM, 4 pin fans, run at 12 volts all the time. The fourth cable is what controls the speed. 3 pin fans use variable voltage to control RPMs. You need to use a 4 pin source or run it at full speed, 12 volts, or you will always have clicking.

**Q: can i used this fan to my corsair h110i that have factory fan**
A: I have 4 of the 120mm fans in my h100i, I cannot imagine why the 140mm fans would not work in the h110i, you just have to use the screws corsair provided you. I will say though that you will be very surprised by just how quite these fans are while providing the same cooling performance as the stock Corsair fans.

**Q: Would like to get 2 intake front fans. Would like to know which would be better for airflow these or NF-A14 FLX. Thanks!**
A: They are essentially the same fan the NF-A14 PWM and the NF-A14 FLX. The difference is that the PWM can be controlled by software on your system through your motherboards resources. Most modern motherboards have the 4 pin connector and support. The NF-A14 FLX is controlled by adapters that are included in the kit. There are usually 3 adapters. They controller the air flow on the FLX model. I have used both and I usually prefer the PWM model because I can set thresholds in my system when temps get hot and can cool my system down faster automatically.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Whisper Quiet!
*by K***. on December 3, 2014*

The thing is fantastically quiet! I installed this on a NZXT Kraken X40 radiator, and I'm loving it. The fan is so quiet, I can hear the pump for the cooler! First off, we have the packaging. It's all very well done, with informative flaps on the box detailed the features of the fan. There's even a little window to see the fan. It might be a bit much, but it definitely doesn't slack in this department. With regards to airflow, it seems to pull a good amount of air, so no complaints there. My idle temps are a little higher than before, but I think that's because the stock Kraken fan is more performance oriented. Anyway, higher idle temps don't matter so long as it keeps cool when under load, and it does. Even under load, the thing is quiet. Now, you might be saying, "Aw, who cares if it's quiet. So what, it makes a little noise." Yeah, I used to feel that way, too. However, once you realize how nice it is to not have the constant whirr and that your machine is working hard yet is barely making a sound, you don't want to go back. Now, I did encounter a small issue when mounting it in my case (NZXT Phantom 530), but I think it's more of a case issue. Basically, the fan blades were hitting the mounting bracket of the case, so I had to find just the right level of tightness so that it wouldn't hit. Not that big of a deal since it's easy to fix. Now if you're not sold on a Noctua fan, part of it is probably the less than attractive Noctua color scheme. I'll admit, it's not the prettiest thing, but I think it's worth it. Plus, it's starting to grow on me; probably because it's now associated with awesome performance. I think if you give it a shot, you'll grow to like it, too. Since purchasing this, Noctua's earned a new loyal customer. All future fan purchases of mine will certainly be Noctuas!
