## Questions & Answers

**Q: I would be grateful for info about the smoothness of the ef nib. that's my number 1 concern. is it scratchy.**
A: I would say the Lamy 2000 EF nib is very smooth. It does tend to feel a bit scratchy when you get on the roll onto the edges of the nib when writing. In comparison to my other favorite pen the Namiki Falcon EF which is super flexible and requires a bit of pressure. The Lamy 2000 requires little to no pressure the ink flows incredibly well but the nib has very little flex. So my point is that the Lamy 2000 EF will require a slight change in your writing style depending on what you are used to writing with. The Lamy 2000 EF is like butter on good paper like Rhodia and Clairefontaine.

**Q: Is this pen broader or finer than a fine nibbed safari?**
A: The EF fine point of the Lamy 2000, in my hands, is in between the Safari F and EF points.  If i could attach a picture I would send you the results :)    Side-by-side, you can definitely see the broader line of the EF Lamy 2000 vs any of my EF Safari's, but only slightly wider, not a huge difference.

**Q: does this pen have a guarantee card？**
A: Yes

**Q: Does the piston knob turn without any resistance when you try to unscrew it? How does it work, does it take force to unscrew it or does it feel loose?**
A: I have 2 Lamy 2000 pens (different nibs) and neither requires much effort to turn the piston. It responds with steady pressure against the turning of the piston screw which is reassuring. Basically the screw moves a piston inside the body of the pen to either empty or fill the ink cavity.  The reservoir for the ink is quite large, probably more than twice as big as a cartridge or convertor would hold, so the advantages of not running out of ink are a real advantage for me as I use one of the pens constantly through the day. I happily recommend the Lamy 2000 as satisfying to use and a well made fountain pen.
