Now connect +24V to the "+" screw. Attach a resistor (200-250 0hms) to the "-" screw. Connect the -24V to the other side of the resistor. As the temperature of your RTD varies from -50 to +100C your resistor will get 4 to 20mA. Use ohms law. If your resistor is 250 ohm, you get 1 to 5 V. If your resistor is connected across the two input screws of a process meter, the meter will read "-50C" to "100C" for minor adjustments, there is a "zero" and "span" on the transmitter. **Q: What are the two adjustment potentiometers for?** A: One is the offset adjustment and one is the range adjustment. They have icons to show which is which. The offset should be set so that you get a zero degrees C reading with iced water. Then the range should adjusted so that you get 100 with boiling water. You may have to go back and adjust the offset and repeat until you get 0-100 **Q: Will this transmitter work properly with a 12V power supply?** A: Specs say +24VDC and that's what I used to power the sensor and transmitter. At +12VDC your range would be 2mA to 10mA (partial range unusable below 4mA) rather than the standard 4 - 20mA full temp range. I would search for a +5VDC transmitter and regulate the +12VDC to +5VDC. **Q: How many amps does this sensor draw from the power supply?** A: 4-20ma.
