The units are virtually plug and play, buttons are large and easily read from a distance without my glasses on, and the blue of the number for your channel button and the green of the talk button light in the dark, making the unit easy to find. Despite living in a densely populated suburb, we have not experienced any interference on our units. For a short time I thought we were getting some interference, but this was due to two units accidentally set to the same number. We have a two story house and detached garage with a loft and a separate shed. When we try to get our kids attention, it's wonderful to just hit the button and we can talk everywhere. Audio quality is good but isn't spectacular which is why I put 4 stars. We have to coach our kids how to speak clearly and concisely, which isn't a bad thing to teach. Sometimes tough to decipher little kids but they can hear what I say just fine. I may need to repeat occasionally, but it does its job.
