The tablets are slightly smaller than the foil wrap 24 packs. I asked the same question as you at the local pharmacy and their reply was that the pots are intended for people who take the tablets regularly for ongoing non-clinical conditions such as nightly digestive reflux (as in my case) where as the foil packs are for people with occasional indigestive discomfort that is not a medical condition.
