Genuine OEM Gerber 97-013 92-298 Hardwater Replacement Shower Ceramic Disc Cartridge With Temperature Limit Stop Pressure Balance Cartridge For 49-600/800

It was easy to install in an old 1990’s shower faucet. I had tried changing the insert controller before but still had a leak. It is as good as new now. Easy 10 minute job.

I'm not a plumber but doing a little research and I found that I needed this part. It was easy to replace.

More expensive than I had hope for, but worked well. Doesn't come with instructions, but I figured it out.1. turn off water to the tub. 2. use a knife to pop off the button on the handle. 3. using a small Phillips screw driver, remove the screw from the handle and pull handle off. 4. remove the 2 screws from the escutcheon plate and pull it off. 5. using a large crescent wrench or channel locks, remove the brass thing by turning counter clockwise. 6. You should be able to pull the stem out by hand. You need to pull out the same parts you want to install. 7. put everything back together in reverse order.The hardest part for me was getting the escutcheon plate screws back in. BTW, you really should have a nice big bowl to put the parts in, so they don't accidently go down the drain. It's easier than you think.

Beware these two parts should NOT be sold as a set. The ceramic cartridge doesn’t fit into the pressure valve. We could use the cartridge so the company did send a partial refund for the pressure valve.

This is the second replacement in 2 years. Little pricey. But works and hopefully this one will last longer. I think the issue is just a Gerber design issue, not the cartridge.
