WORKS WITH BIG BLUE HOUSING - 4.5" x 20" KDF85/KDF55/GAC WATER FILTER CARTRIDGE 2 LBS KDF55 2 LBS KDF85 BALANCE IS GAC CARBON COCONUT SHELL. KDF55: KDF 55 Designed specifically for removing or reducing chlorine and water-soluble heavy metals. The process medium recently received NSF International Certification and is certified by NSF to NSF/ANSI Standard 42. This medium is also in compliance with California Health and Safety Code Section 166875 (or commonly know as AB1953) and Vermont Act 193 KDF 85 Medium Removes or reduces iron and hydrogen sulfide from municipal or other water supplies. iron / hydrogen sulfide reduction filter contains a combination of KDF85 media and coconut shell activated carbon. The KDF85 effectively reduces dissolved iron and hydrogen sulfide odor over a wider pH range than possible with standard oxidation filters such as manganese greensand, thereby protecting your plumbing system including toilets, bath tubs and showers, and appliances such as clothes washers and dishwashers, from unsightly staining and odor. The water doesn't come out orange. Most of all it got my wife off my back because of the water. That alone makes it well worth it. First filter that worked in 4 years.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Does remove the rotten egg smell

I have a small wellhouse and have been fighting the rotten egg smell for about a year now. Bleaching/chlorinating helps temporarily, but it always comes back. I plan on adding an Aeration system eventually but figured this was worth a shot for the price. The good news is it did remove most of the rotten egg smell. If a faucet sits unused for a while, the smell will return temporarily which is understandable. But as water runs through the filter, the smell does go away. So maybe 15 seconds max of rotten egg smell the next morning. I'd call this a huge improvement. I also noticed my shower water had less of a "Metallic-Earthy" smell to it. I'll be purchasing the media to refill this unit when the time comes.
