Dell OptiPlex 790 DT 2nd Gen Core i3-2120 4GB DDR3 250GB HDD DVDRW Windows 10 Professional Desktop PC Computer (Renewed)

I have bought, up-cycled, and passed-on more Optiplex PCs than i can remember (mostly within £5 or £10 of this price point), and and this is by far the very worst i have ever come across..Once i had upgraded the RAM, i went to install Linux from my supply of discs. No disc worked. I went to replace the CD/DVD drive and found that it was (understandably) an older and wider connection than most of the parts i had to hand. Fortunately though, i still have a stock of older parts, and after a quick search and some trial and error, i was able to replace the DVD drive without much hassle..And not that i care, but the second i booted it up for the first time there was a notification saying that some of the included software had expired (though when i looked, it said that this version of Windows was installed on April the first! So, whatever)..But i went to install my operating system of choice, no joy. Hour after hour, day after day of frustration. More than once i even replaced the hard drive, no difference. I have now spent nearly 12 hours a day for 2 weeks trying to get this computer to do the absolute basics that i am used to with Optiplex, including trying to install almost 40 different operating systems, and while about one in five distros SEEM to install, on reboot it will not do anything apart from power up. And it just will not connect to the internet AT ALL..I believe there is an intrinsic fault with the motherboard that should never have made it past quality control if these people care even the slightest bit about their customers, or our safety come to that..And even if i just got a bad one, and all the others by this company are good, there is still no way on Earth that anyone has got this to play modern games. They are not made / spec'ed for that. These are basic computers made for simple office work. And as such, they are perfectly fine. But anyone here saying they have this as a gaming rig is talking ****. To get this to play anything more recent than Space Invaders or Pacman you would have to replace every single part of this until there was nothing of this computer left (with only the possible exception of the case, and even that i doubt).

Very easy to install

I was sent a Optiplex 3010 instead of a 790.But I am happy with this as there is pretty much no difference between the two.

I like everything about this machine, But WiFi dongle stopped working. arrived in two days.Update: i have upgraded the ram to the 32gb max and i have changed the cpu to a core i7 3700 it is now running my minecraft server and has been kept on 24/7 for the last monththere was also a second windows 10 pro licence in the case that i used on my current machine

Worked straight out of the box.Just added a GT 1030 and was good to go.With pc components hard to get or vastlyoverpriced this will keep me going for a while.
