The lotion gets on my body and not much remains on the pads. I would say to make sure that the pad is definitely dry to begin, so I leave mine hanging on the outside of the bathroom doorknob, then reach for it when I am ready to apply lotion. **Q: What is the pad made of?** A: I've had this Toem Back Lotion Applicator for quite awhile and use it every day. The pad feels like it's made out of rubber. I clean it by using hand soap, rinsing it and the wiping the pad dry. It's a wonderful applicator. Well designed. I really like it and I'm a very picky person. **Q: can you use this to wash your back too?** A: I don't see why not if you use a liquid body wash. The applicator is a solid foam type material so does not absorb. **Q: Can you wash and reuse the pads?** A: I even threw one in my washing machine with towels and it came out looking brand new. I dint put in dryer. I haven't had a problem with them coming off the stick. It's a snug fit. The pads are a very dense foam that's soft enough to massage products in but does not absorb product. There's a little texture to help lotion stay on the pad. I think they thought of everything when designing this.
