These are small, made for kids, but look really cool and work pretty well. The variable focus will focus up to about 10 feet away, I'd say, and also far away of course. I was looking for a decent inexpensive pair with a little LESS magnification -- 7 x 35, a common size for general purpose birding, or maybe 6x-- which focus even closer for a decent price for kids. I looked for an hour or more and don't think they exist. I bought a 6 x 35 "Nature bound" and they are junk. I think this model, which is undoubtedly identical to all the other ones on Amazon that look like this, is the best you are going to do. If your kid is a teen or close in size, just get an inexpensive adult pair.

My son just got these a week ago for his birthday. He loves them. I tried them out and they are very clear and work great. Pretty good for a 5yo or anyone older but they aren't too fragile. Seems like the rubber around them could take a bit of a beating if it had too. Overall great product so far. Meets all expectations and I really appreciate the carrying case and that he can wear it around his neck.

My 4 year old grandson seem to enjoy them s I was told. He doesn't live in the same state as I. I cn only assume he is enjoying them. He's been playing with them everyday.

Very sturdy and well made. I bought it for my son, I wanted to get something which was long-lasting and he could use for a longtime. We enjoy the outdoors and looking at animals and I figured this was a perfect gift to get him started trying his eye to view wildlife. You can tell it's not a toy, it is a real binocular set for children which will grow with them and won't break easily.
