This is almost exactly the same product in every way except the light sweet scent Dixie had. This is the best Pomade I've used in over 40 years and the one most like the ones of the past when us "greasers" kept a comb in our hip pockets, whipping them out every five minutes:) It washes out easily with any shampoo, keeps hair in place and returns hair style to your original combing with a pocket comb and a little water, stays in your hair and doesn't run down your face and neck in the heat. Again, the best stuff since Dixie Peach, if it were the 1940's - 1960's this would be the most popular hair pomade on the market! I'm surprised this product hasn't had more popular support! If you are looking for what the original rockers and teddy boys would have used, this is it! Like the shampoo? XD** A: Why would you want to? It might say Mane 'N Tail, but I use it for human hair to make it beautifully glossy and manageable. **Q: Do you have to wash it out or can it stay in?** A: I use the cream in my beard. When applied it stays in. If I do not wash it out and go to scratch my beard, some of the cream will come out since its still present and holding. I recommend for sanitary reasons just washing it out after human use. **Q: Will this support a (medium-large) pompadour while retaining the smell of the original shampoo?** A: Doubt it. It’s very light. For a pompadour you need something a little heavier. I suggest using suavecito pomade. I’ve been using it the past few years for styling and it’s the only product that agrees with me. I like using the suavecito product because it’s light but manages to retain shape and is not harsh on sensitive skin. It never flakes. This mane and tail product is more of a conditioner. If your hair is already straight and oily it’ll probably not work and just weigh it down leaving it greasy. My hair is mixed and tends to have waves, curls and some straight hair. It’s coarse and a bit dry. I use this after the mane and tail shampoo and conditioner and apply it to wet hair. I either plop or let it air dry and scrunch it. Leaves it smelling good, like the shampoo and conditioner and shiny. It’s not greasy on my hair at all nor stiff. Start by using a little bit. It’s also good for ponytails. It washes off easily and doesn’t weigh my hair down. When I sit on the couch I don’t leave grease behind either lol! Try it if your hair is on the dryer side. Oh and my hair does grow a lot with this.
