ARMYU Military Genuine GI Watch Cap Warm Winter USN Wool Beanie Solid Cuffed Army Hat 2-Pack

There used to be a military surplus store nearby where I could get what, apparently, were genuine US Navy watch hats. Unfortunately, the store closed a few years ago and I have not been able to find the real item since then. This product is no exception. The Navy watch hats I used to get were very densely woven and wind did not penetrate them. While these hats claim to be manufactured to US military specifications, they are loosely knitted and stretchy. They fit nicely but the wind goes right through them. In terms of warmth, they are typical of hats purchased at a discount store. They are fine for wearing under a parka hood or when you need just a bit of something on your head but if you want protection from serious cold, especially if it is windy, they won't do the job.

If you're looking for a standard wool watchcap, this is it. Seems small at first, but it stretches out nicely and fits with some snug, which is just what you would want. Only problem I have with it is I'm over seventy years old and it plays hell with my hearing aids. I have to adjust it just a bit to get it over my ears and settled down to where it doesn't rub on the mics in the aids. Another problem with gettin' older. I'm beginning to get used to it, though.The watchcap is just what I wanted and expected.

I use this in cold weather, even in the cold rain. Thing stays warm once on your skull. Used in military before, don't know how authentic the 'genuine' statement is, but certain does its job in keeping heat in and cold out. My kids wear these too, more often than not, they can get too hot but otherwise - would not want to be without it in very cold temps (freezing or below).

I liked this hat until I accidentally washed it and it shrunk. Now it is way too small for my head. I am thinking about attaching a zipper to the opening in the now shrunken hat and turning it into a cool pouch. From now on I am sticking to acrylic beanie hats. I have shrunk too many wool hats.

It's made of wool and not synthetic. It is a time honored way to keep your head warm whether wet or dry and in most conditions. I grew up wearing watch caps starting with Boy Scouts to retirement, of course, military and work in between.

I wore watch caps when I was in the military. They are comfortable, light weight, keeps you ears warm in the winter and keeps the sun off of your ears in the summer time. I wear them all the time when I'm riding my ATV or my motorcycle.able

I bought this for my husband who works in a cool warehouse and is always cold. He had lost the hat he used for the last couple of winters so I ordered this hat. He loves it! His head is warm now and the hat fits perfect. He would definitely recommend this hat.
