Good but bright and thin sounding
Good pickups, but a little too bright and thin for what I was looking for. I should have chosen the Wolftone Marshallhead instead for the thicker, creamier PAF tone that I was looking for.

Balanced, Nuanced, Delicious Sound!
After using several other pickups in my Les Paul Custom over the years, I put a Dr. Vintage in the neck position, and a (Wolfetone) Marshallhead MKII in the bridge. No disrespect intended, and these things can be subjective, but I cannot fathom why the reviewer who only gave these 3 stars would think they're "not as good as original Les Paul pickups". He doesn't even clarify which "original" pickup he had. Perhaps he had actual PAF's, or 60's patent # pups. I had '57 classics from before Gibson changed the specs and compromised the quality, when they were still as Tom Holmes designed them. Many feel those were the best pickups Gibson had released since the 70's. I used those for around 12 years, and the Wolfetones are notably better in every regard. I thought the '57 was great in the neck, but the Dr. V smokes it---not even close. Wolfe McLeod is a great guy with superb customer service. If you're not happy with the sound, he will work with you until you get the sound you want, at no charge, including rewinding the pickup. It doesn't sound like the previous reviewer even attempted to contact Wolfe before leaving a mediocre, non-descript review. Probably plays everything with drop D tuning. Wolfetone pickups are amazing!

Amazing pickups from a great seller
I don't typically do reviews. Especially on guitar accessories because everyone is different and likes different things. But I will say that I have never been so impressed with a pickup as I have been with Wolfetone Pickups. I currently own a set of Dr V's and the clarity, and transparency of these pickups cannot be stressed enough. With beautiful undertones, they truly take you back to the days of the original PAF's. Build or install a proper harness, and every note will be full, clear, and pronounced. Add a little dirt on a gain channel, and you can grind out the best of modern rock songs. People love these pickups so much, they rarely part with them. So the resale value is always up. Give them a try, you wont be disappointed.
