The books will make a great Christmas present!
The books arrived promptly and in good condition. They are a Christmas gift for my grandson who read the first book of this series in high school. He will really enjoy being able to finish the story now.

Well written exciting stories.
This set of books could also get 5 stars. I only gave them 4 stars for one reason. Before I state the reason, I want to mention that the author is a master story teller. His story line is consistent throughout all six books. My problem is how negative they are. Every chapter (probably about 100 over the 2000+ pages) is another crisis. Each crisis is beyond normal human endurance. The next chapter another crisis, the next another, and so on. After a few books I desperately wanted something good to happen. How could a person face death and injury a hundred times. Why would the author want so much pain to occur for page after page. From the first page to the last, it's extreme suffering...death, war, injuries. Even to the last page, when the good guy saves the day, it involves extreme, over the top suffering.I just wanted someone, anyone, to have a good day. I was emotionally exhausted by the end of the series.

Redemption sought
At the onset, I almost quit reading because of how evil of an act he commits near the beginning of the story, but I gave it a chance, continued to read, and realized that this series of books was about a very flawed man who spends his “life” trying to redeem himself and to champion a cause that is much bigger than his selfish, mundane existence mired in incompetence and regret. I get that some would be disgusted and cast the book aside, but you will miss out on a great fantasy series.

Missing important sections
Great series of books; difficult story to get into, but well worth the effort -- the payoff takes several books to achieve between the first and second chronicles. This edition makes a few editorial or spelling changes for the Commonwealth, over the original American edits by the Author. This edition has problems: The books are missing Glossaries at the end of the book, as originally published. They are also missing the "What has gone before" recaps found at the beginning of the books (as appropriate).

Same as yesterday!
Read Chronicles #1 & #2 of this series in the Army starting 40 years ago. It still captures my attention today, just like the Dune series. Many people may joke at what they believe to be fantasy and mythos in these type of series, but I believe these are the same people that hold us back from truly making any forward progress as a people. So hold dearly to your ancient mechanizations and let us embrace something that could be possible.

Six books not consistent
One of the six books was another issue and looks different - I did order specifically this package to have the six books in one edition . I now ordered the wrong one through eBay. It would be better to get an info beforehand to decide if the full order stays.

Great fantasy
Stephen Donaldson depiction of the Land is one of the greatest in Fantasy. The story is intriguing and the land itself is wonderful as are most of the characters. The main downside is our main protagonist. Having Leprosy was an interesting plot devise and it's understandable how suddenly a person with leprosy suddenly finding themselves cured might completely snap, however becoming ( Major SPOILER) a rapist in the first 100 pages spoils the entire series and as it continues there are hints of incest. It's a shame as the land is endlessly imaginative with some wonderful characters but Thomas Covenant is not an easy guy to like and this can make the books a hard read.

So pleased with this 6 book purchase
I read these books many years ago when first published and now have (for reread) on my kindle. But, I was so pleased to be able to purchase all these books together for my grandson. They arrived promptly and well packaged. He is loving them.

Love the story, but these books are dreadful quality
Great story I’m revisiting having read some of the books in my younger years, but I’m only half way through the first book of these six and the pages have all fallen out! I am very careful not to ‘break the spine’ of my books but it’s a very close thing so you can read the text that runs right into it. Very disappointing and I’m hoping the other five books don’t have the same problem.
