I have tried several brands and for me, Bion works the best. If you don't use all of the liquid when applying the top seals back up and does not leak--all though, it won't stain anything. When my eye starts watering, which is usually in the morning after waking, two drops will usually stop it or slow it way down. At times, based on the weather, I may need to use another drop or two a couple of hours later. There are other medications that require a prescription that will stop dry eye but once you start with it you need to use it twice daily forever. My Opthamologist suggested trying different tear type products and if any seemed to work well, and if the need was only off an on then go for it--using a prescription drop was a real inconvenience because you must keep on using it regularly. This type of product is fairly expensive when purchased in drug stores but after trying several brands I found desertcart was a good place to buy. It is probably the best thing to use as it cannot harm you and will never be rejected by your system. Bion Tears are artificial tears and are thus given to being problematic for some, particularly those who use the product for years. This said, Bion Tears are one of the top lubricants out there and their lack of preservatives make them far less likely to be painful for those with severe dry eye. My mother has severe Sjogrën's syndrome with no tears at all and no saliva. She has tried every drop on the market and when Bion tears came out she never looked back. She also uses Autologous serum and says that it gives her more comfort than anything off the shelf. **Q: Where were they made?** A: Alcon tells me they have quit making them and are offering a cheaper although good product. Bion Tears, however, are the best I have ever used. I have severe dryness due to Sjogrens and they seemed to be the only tears that could keep me from severe pain due to dryness. I have found their new product does a good job though. **Q: expiration date?** A: Bion tears for severe dry eyes are absolutely the very best I have ever used. They are no longer available from Alcon so it might be a good idea to see if there is an expiration date. Alcon now makes GenTeal tears for moderate dryness.
