Though it takes a second to properly deploy (you have to move the locking collar down the shaft to prevent the claws from closing), this little anchor held my 17' Old Town canoe in the strong currents of the Indian River Lagoon. Works very well and is extremely easy to pull back up. This also packs relatively easily into the carry bag. The only downside is the flimsy vinyl rope, but that's never stopped it from working effectively. It just doesn't fold back up as easy as some other rope might. Not a big deal to me though.
