What happens when the big pancake runs away? For over thirty-five years it has helped young children who are learning to read develop and improve their reading skills. Each Read it yourself book is very carefully written to include many key, high-frequency words that are vital for learning to read, as well as a limited number of story words that are introduced and practised throughout. Simple sentences and frequently repeated words help to build the confidence of beginner readers and the four different levels of books support children all the way from very first reading practice through to independent, fluent reading. Each book has been carefully checked by educational consultants and can be read independently at home or used in a guided reading session at school. Further content includes comprehension puzzles, helpful notes for parents, carers and teachers, and book band information for use in schools. The Big Pancake is a Level 1 Read it yourself book, suitable for very early readers who are ready to take their first steps in reading real stories. Each simple story uses a small number of frequently repeated words. Review: Libro in inglese per principiante - Era un regalo per il mio figlio di cinque anni. Gli piace tantissimo la storia. Gli piace tantissimo la storia. Consegna e condizioni del libro ottimo. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Muy chulo *by C***X on 10 May 2019* Muy divertido! Al peque le encanta y por las noches siempre lo pide 😊 ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Never trust a hungry pig! *by S***7 on 14 May 2021* One of a nice little series of children's Ladybird books. All priced around the Β£4.99 mark. They are very slim (pictured next to my HD 10 for scale), and all seem to be between two and three hundred words in length. These are paperbacks, but the card used for the front cover is good quality and thanks to it's shiny surface will survive a wipe with a damp cloth. Each storybook has a small section at the beginning that suggests ways to engage with your child as you read and also a smaller section at the end that helps you test your child's recall. This particular story is entertaining enough. A Big Pancake runs for his life pursued by numerous very hungry people. He does well...evades pursuit...then trusts...a very hungry pig. I'm not quite sure what the moral of this story is. But I'm sure your little one's will be suitably entertained by the fleet footed pancake's bid for freedom... --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - πŸ›’ **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** β€” Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** β€” Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - πŸ’° **No Hidden Fees** β€” All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - πŸ”„ **15-Day Free Returns** β€” Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - πŸ”’ **Secure Payments** β€” Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** β€” Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.ro/products/276112889-the-big-pancake-read-it-yourself-with-ladybird-level1](https://www.desertcart.ro/products/276112889-the-big-pancake-read-it-yourself-with-ladybird-level1) --- *Product available on Desertcart Romania* *Store origin: RO* *Last updated: 2026-10-28*
