The Disney Way provides a fantastic means for jump-starting any organizations customer service approach
The Disney Way provides a fantastic means for jump-starting any organizations customer service approach. This book provides the foundation for implementing a customer centric cultural transformation that will run deep within your organization, and that will provide for long-term changes. This is not simply about sprinkling a bit of magic on the outside and hoping that it holds. The Disney Way starts with buy-in from leadership, invites front-line employees to develop a foundation, and leaves employees with the fundamentals necessary to make positive customer oriented decisions. Bill and Lynn do a great job presenting Disney's key principles to success, and mixing in many examples from the companies they have worked with in a way that is easily digested and makes clear the reward of the long-term commitment needed for execution. This new edition is made better by the addition of government organizations. Having spoken with Ottawa County and seen their customer service first-hand in preparing our own organization, I can assure you the chapter is no exaggeration of how profound an impact the Disney Way can have. Thank you for another great book!

Worth the read
Enjoyed the readability of this book and how well it summarized the salient parts of the Disney Way that can impact most any business. I suppose this won’t resonate with all business leaders, but I found it meshed well with what I believe represents a great company that any hard working individual would love to be a part of.

Project Success Begins with a Story
Love it! This book is full of valuable insights. At Disney, every project begins with a story. That was a key takeaway for me. Capodagli and Jackson did just that in their writing. I was captivated from the very beginning listening to the stories of Walt and other key Disney figures. The authors walk you through the challenges and triumphs at Disney, then bring it home to your organization in terms of Dream, Believe, Dare, Do. That was helpful for me in understanding how to apply the principles of Disney's creative geniuses to virtually any type of project. What do you want your customers' experience to be? Begin with the story or "dream". If you "believe" it is can and should be done, it becomes your motivation when you "dare" and your direction when you "do".

A book of business and inspiration
Read the book if you enjoy or plan on enjoying your job, even if you are not in business. It has a significant incite on management. This is not a book of rules, it is a book of practical simplistic methodologies.

Quote issues
This book is much more interesting than the other leadership book I had the joy of reading, but once I turned to chapter 2 I immediately noticed something that challenges the validity of the rest of the book. There is a quote that gives credit to the wrong Disney Character. "A dream is a wish your heart makes." is from Cinderella, not Jiminy Cricket. While this seems a trivial thing to base a review on, to me this says the authors and/or editors could not be bothered to check their facts on such a simple thing, how reliable is the rest of the book? I am appalled to see that Cinderella did not get credit for the saying that she has coined! It is the first song of the movie, for crying out loud! Jiminy Cricket was "When you wish upon a star", not "A dream is a wish your heart makes." I truly wish I could contact the publishers and let them know, or the authors. This calls in to question the accuracy of the rest of the book to me, and I am not looking forward to basing my paper on this book, but unfortunately I am already committed.

The Magic of Mickey
I have not read previous editions of The Disney Way so this book and authors Bill Capodagli and Lynn Jackson are new to me.I enjoyed reading about the origins of the Walt Disney company and the insight into Walt's vision for building a business blending creativity and a commitment to customer service. But Walt was also committed to his employees and knew the importance of keeping them engaged and motivated. The stories used to illustrate ways in which Walt's business ideas can be implemented in today's marketplace are timely and underscore the importance of including core values into any business plan - something so simple but often overlooked. This was informative, enlightening and motivating.
