Coffee from electric coffee maker always lacks something, but great if you want many cups. I've lately come to like "Pour over" the best. (in a tall thermal cup). My stainless, paper filterless, pour-over takes too long, now that I've had it awhile. No kind of cleaning will restore its' original flow rate. I have a collapsible silicon pour over thing that really is good, but I can't see how much is in the cup without lifting it up. Overfills are frequent. This Melitta cone brewer is perfect. There are ridges inside to channel the brew so the filter is held away from the cone so the brew is not all coming from the bottom of the filter. Some don't like the lack of a handle. It HAS a handle in the form of the offset top ("form follows function in good design"). Some say it's too unstable & will tip too easy. Well, it is if you use a traditional "cup". This is more for a "mug" or something that won't rock. I wanted it for the visibility to see when I've poured enough. Some say the coffee is not hot enough because of the openings, but if I run some hot water in my big cup 1st before I start pouring & let it sit a little to heat soak, then pour, my resulting coffee is VERY hot.
