I thought given their size that they might impede his arm movements but they don't at all. They won't slip off or slide down his arms. The rubber that grips the arm doesn't leave any marks on the skin and it also doesn't appear to perish after a year of weekly pool visits. My 3 year old son of average size has boomed in confidence wearing these. Take them off and he sinks like a stone. He's nearly 4 now and they give him freedom to move around a pool all that he wants. They're a little pricey but built of such good quality that they'll be passed down a couple of generations. They won't burst and spawn re-purchases like classic blow up arm bands.
