Satin as a slight shine. **Q: Is this an appropriate finish for the back of an unfinished maple guitar neck?** A: I don't see why not, it's still going to feel like a nitrocellulose finish, but it not AS shiney. **Q: Can you use this to preserve autographs on guitar?** A: Good afternoon, This would be great for preserving the autographs. We recommend first spraying a light covering just to give it something to adhere to as well as not cause the marker/ink to smudge. Unfortunately, we do not recommend any of our aerosol products for this type of finish. We do recommend Mohawk's Rockhard Table Top Urethane Varnish, M603-28406 or M603-28806, in a brushing finish or our Pour N Wipe, M603-3016.
