Why don't you guys ever post the grit! Its every unprofessional!** A: Somewhere between 120 and 350 grit. Not for surgical knives, but on a serrated knife, or an inward curving machete these will put a good "first edge". Not going to give you a fine polish, but it will make inexpensive stainless and carbon steels sharp quick. **Q: What grit is this? Why don't you guys ever post the grit! Its every unprofessional!** A: I would say it’s a fine. I only use it on my pocket knive **Q: I have a toenail cutter with a 1" curved blade. Would this work to sharpen that double blade as it has gotten quite dull.** A: I believe this sharpener could work fairly well for that type of blade **Q: How long does it last or amount of uses before getting dull?** A: I'm still using the same one. I don't use it a lot, or on any really heavy steel, but still can sharpen stuff. Basically, it can get, as you say, dull, depending on how hard you press down with it, what steel you are using it on, and so forth. But instead of thinking of it getting "dull", think of it being able to hone more, and more fine, the more you use it. But even the parts that I've used on this, they still work. It may not remove material as fast as it did on day one, but I'm not trying to use this as a file. I'm using to get the rough spots out of blades before re-edging it using whet stones. Got a 2 pack. Gave one to a friend. Never had to buy another. So, basically, yes and no. Hope that answers you question.
