Not really a fan.
I am an audio engineer so I am picky. However, I love small cheap speakers for listening outside the studio. They are some of the best ways to reference your music, especially if you are familiar with the original material. Try it yourself when you compare these kinds of speakers. Listen to your favorite music on a sound system you know, like living room or a car (or even headphones), and then listen to a small wireless speaker and see what elements carry over. It's an easy way to tell and also useful in comparing portable speakers side by side. One speaker may sound good by itself, but then the next one may have sound elements that the first one didn't etc...This can also be a frustrating comparison test by the way...Another thing to consider is what your purpose is. Hotel room? Party? Beach? All of these environments react differently. This speaker looks great, It has a rugged "Apple Prototype" kind of look. It gets stars for sturdiness and design. The audio is weak to me though. I'm not one of those people who crave huge bass as I like my music flat and want to hear mixes "breathe". However, this guy is lacking bass in both the lows and the low mids (the matter being crucial for definition). The highs are weak too (which is understandable, as I'm sure they are wary of harsh frequencies in small speakers) and all of the emphasis is on high kids and midrange, making for a tinny and undefined sound. This box is also not very loud. I did a side by side comparison with the Oontz, the Sykik and Amazon's own speaker. The Oontz was actually my favorite in terms of clear sound definition (especially for the price!). Sykik not bad at all. Loud but distorts a little at higher volumes, but is water resistant and works well in a bathroom or an outdoor party. I actually chose the Amazon over the Oontz because of the environment I want to listen in. I wanted something for hotel rooms that was clear but also warmer sounding as I watch a lot of movies with my iPad on the road and the Amazon box has a warmer, fuller bass response that is not too overwhelming. Hope this helps.

Rugged little package
I have a Bose Soundlink III and that's the only Bluetooth speaker I ever heard prior to buying this. I wanted something that I could take to work and not worry (as much) about someone stealing it. With a $50 price limit for one with an internal rechargeable battery, I looked over the offerings here at Amazon and read many reviews. The reviews for this--I think there were only 10 reviews and they all were "5 Stars" at the time--convinced me to try this. (Remember that I only had the Soundlink as a reference point.) When it arrived and I opened it up, I about had a heart attack. I could not believe how small this was! I thought it would be a least two thirds the size of the Soundlink! I felt like I ordered a speaker and received a toy. My expectation was so naive I never bothered to look at the dimensions of the item before buying. After initially thinking I would return this ASAP, I've come to like it a lot. No, it doesn't sound a "rich" as my Soundlink, but it sounds surprisingly good FOR ITS SIZE... and that's the main point here; you have to have a realistic expectation about the sound you get out of a little box. The thing I noticed before charging the internal battery up was how sturdy this is. The body is made of thick aluminum alloy. I bet I could run over this with a car and it would hold up. It has all the features of most other Bluetooth speakers. I haven't & won't be using this for listening to cell phone calls, but as a music player it works flawlessly. It's very easy to connect via Bluetooth. I listened to a few songs, especially a couple with a distinct bass intro to the song, and I did tweak the bass up (enhancing) via the equalizer on my android cell phone's music player. Not bad! So, I throw it in my canvas brief case and use it at work, eating lunch and grooving to music. I use it in my small office, so I can't say how loud I would have to play it or how satisfactory it would sound in a large area, but it can play louder than what I adjust it to when I use it. I guess these speakers are generally considered "portable" speakers, but this one I almost regard as a "personal" speaker. And that's appropriate, because I play it for me alone. It comes with a small cloth drawstring bag that would be useful if you kept or transported it in a dusty or dirty environment. (I don't use it.) All the controls are on one end. I like to stand it on (the other) end. In this vertical position it's easy to see and adjust the controls. The Bluetooth search light comes on when you turn the unit on. The volume buttons can also control the song list (previous/next song with quick press of appropriate button). The one thing that is only a very minor annoyance is that the volume setting is not saved when you turn the speaker off. I opt to max out the volume on the speaker as soon as I turn it on and use my phone to adjust the listening volume. The weird thing now is that I've come to appreciate the small size of this speaker. It slips easily into my shirt pocket; it could fit into any pocket, and it would not suffer any damage if you slipped it into your jeans back pocket; built like a tank. This would be easy to take camping or hiking if you just couldn't leave your technology home. It does not come with a charger, but I can use the same charger I use for my cell phone, which outputs 5 volts/550mA. The instruction booklet specifies a power supply of "DC5V/500mA-1A", so there is some room (acceptable mA range) here for most chargers. This is a very good speaker for what it is, and that's why it gets and deserves 5 stars. I agree with other reviewers that it does sound good. I like it and have no intension of returning it. YMMV.

Love the Rocky! in Silver
I'd recommend this speaker to anyone that is looking for an excellent quality speaker for very reasonable money. I have had speakers that were similar in stature however, not any one of them had the base or the treble like this one. I read an earlier review saying the same thing (as to what made me buy it) and they were very correct! Very happy with this one!Very easy to Pair with my iphone 5Sound quality is excellent!Thank you!

Amazing sound in this compact speaker
The metallic case is compact and feels strong and sturdy. It is slightly wider than a stack of cards and is easy to carry around. The sound is just amazing from this small speaker and the battery lasted 12 hours (i played at medium volume). This is totally different from what is available in the market and is a great alternative if you are bored with the round or brick shape speakers.
