Review: Perfect for lawn - I purchased this aerator because I laid a bluegrass blend of sod about 3 months ago and I am losing more and more grass to yellow. I live in NM so it’s hard to believe I was over watering. Then all the sudden mushrooms started growing. I’m obviously watering too much. I also have almost complete tree coverage of my lawn so it doesn’t get tons of sun even though it gets tons of heat. I was going by the growers watering suggestions which I’m sure include lots of New Mexico sun. I did not water before doing this and it was super easy. Obviously overwatering as well as the sprinklers are not evenly distributing. I found all this out from this awesome two prong aerator! I will say that I am 5,8” and 135 pounds. It worked perfect for me for a small yard 450 ft.². With soft soil. It took me around 40 minutes and that was not doing it in a hurry. But trying to space ever 4-6 inches. I’m just guessing but if you’re over 6 feet tall it may bother your back because you’re gonna have to bend over more than I did and it does not adjust. Its very well-made. I can’t imagine it ever breaking. The slugs come out super easy as I’m going along. I did clean it out once but my soil is pretty wet, not super compacted. . For apex 35 bucks this is best purchase I’ve gotten recently! Considering I looked at a ton of reviews and some similar items up around $70-80+. My personal opinion is that this is a well-built, functional easy to use tool for a small lawn and I’m not even professional!
Review: The reason why it's clogging on you... - I got my coring tool. Out of the box, construction was good. Took it right out to the yard and started coring - worked like a charm...for about 20 minutes. Then I had a constipated tool. I cleaned it out and sprayed it with lubricant (added to the problem) - nada. Could not get it to take a single plug after a stellar start. After perusing some blogs on the tool and clogging problems here is what I found. 1) You MAY have a defective tool - the welds at the top of the tube (what you see as you look down) may extend over the opening and cause clogging - send it back or get a file and round off the obstruction. 2) As the maker says in their instructions - "The soil has to be wet, but not too wet. You'll have to figure that one out. 3) Here is what I finally discovered that solved the problem for me - as you core wet ground, the tool seems to work well. After a few cores the tube just refuses to pass soil. What I found is that if the soil is too wet, the moisture in the tube forms a suction inside the tube and , like quicksand, it holds soil in to the sides of the tube and will not releaase the core for passage. I took the tool cleaned it out and passed some cloth patches down the tube until it was dry and voila - smooth as ice again - For a considerable time before I had to do it again. This goes back to the instruction, "Soil must be wet but not too wet." It's an imperfect situation. Bottom line, as long as the soil is the right degree of wet - it's a winner. I find that early in the morning, before iet gets hot, is the best time to core. Good luck!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: How long between the 2 spikes? How wide the spikes is?**
A: I would guess about 4-4 1/2 inches between the spikes & the diameter of the plugs pulled out to be a little larger than a dime & about 2-2 1/2 inches long. It’s very sturdy & nicely made, just what I was looking for.

**Q: Pictures show a solid handle. The video shows a bolt together handle. Which handle does the spike aerator come with?**
A: I have the spike aerator which is all welded steel tubing. The core type aerator looks different and might actually have a bolted handle.

**Q: Does anyone have a way to easily unclog the tubes and keep them from clogging again? Lawn was thoroughly watered but the tubes are still clogging.**
A: The easiest way i found to unclog it was a screwdriver. The sooner you see the clog the easier it clears out. In regards to preventing clogging in the first place.....only thing I thought of was lubricant. Maybe Vaseline, olive oil, or something like that lol. I havent gotten that desperate to try that though, so I dont know the effects it may have on your lawn.

**Q: How long are the spikes on this?**
A: Dear customer,
The spikes size is around 4.5 inch.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Very satisfied with this tool
*by J***G on March 23, 2023*

I purchased this manual aerator after a local lawn company said I needed aeration to the tune of $258. We had an aerator attachment for a Stilh Yard Boss, but it did not do the plugs. "Wally" is very well made. Our yard is a 1/2 acre lot and in an older neighborhood where people do not overly care for their yards. Our yard was very compacted. You really do need to use it when the yard is at least damp. In my better grass, I moved along fairly quickly. In the problem areas, it required a little more effort. The prongs will clog up as many have said. I didn't let that bother or stop me. I have perfect holes all over the yard. But if you need to see that actual plug come up through the top, it might aggravate you. For me, it was under $50 and a little exercise. Even one of my golden retrievers enjoyed bouncing all around me as I made my way through the yard. I would recommend if you have the time, a little muscle and you treat it as an exercise.
