Second One - Still Love It
After going through 3-4 food scales due to water damage from cleaning them with a damp paper towel - I bought one of these and it lasted by far the longest. The others were the flat kind that were thin with only one level - unlike this one where the screen is detached from the measuring surface. I would definitely not recommend any other type of scale for food. The first one lasted me well over a year and only stopped working after I boxed it up in my move. After that it would turn on but not register any weight. I could not find anything similar at this price that I liked so I ordered a second on Amazon (the first I bought in store). I have had this one now for 7 months and it has worked perfectly. If you need to clean it, the glass part is removable so you can wipe it down or stick it in the dishwasher (maybe never tried it in the dishwasher).I mainly use this for meal prepping so all the food going on it is placed into a container. This has definitely helped it last longer and not needing to be cleaned much.100% would recommend and buy again. If this one breaks, I would buy another because it still has lasted longer than any other scale I bought before.

annoying that it won't hold tare
I had the white model of this that I used for years until the plastic tab cover on the battery compartment broke and made it no longer usable. I am sorry that I bought this model because it will not hold tare: I tare to zero with a container on the scale, then put in food. I find that when I remove the food, the scale always jumps to -1, so I have to reweigh the same food again. This is very frustrating! The color is not silver as shown; it is a darker gray which I am not happy with. Another frustrating thing about this updated model: in order to change the battery they made it so you will have to find a very small screwdriver to remove a screw to open the compartment! How idiotic is that?? What busy woman has time or patience to go through all this to change a battery?? The old model was simple to change the battery.

Years and years of use!
I’m writing this review after my second purchase of this scale. The reason I’m purchasing another is for my mother who will be taking care of my infant to make it easier for her to measure out formula for the baby.I first bought this scale in 2012 when I decided I needed to weigh my food portions. 8 years later (!) I am still using this scale almost everyday and for more than just food. Currently I’m using it to weigh out baby formula mostly. I’ve been rough with it, cleaned it up a bunch and it is always accurate, straightforward, and I have only had to change the battery ONCE in 8 years! Durable and reliable.

Great customer service
Update- I was sent a replacement. It works great. The first one had some weird problems (as seen in original review(, but the company sent me one and I had it in the mail in less than 3 days (without prime). No charge for shipping or return. Anyways, it's a great scale, and that's why I wanted to exchange the faulty one with the same one. I'm glad the replacement works well, cause this scale is very easy to use with the elevated platform. This thing keeps saying "Lo" when I try to turn it on. I have to tap on it and mess with it every time I use it. I need to have a food scale, so having to return it while waiting for another one is really going to mess up my strict diet. I wish they would send me one and let me try to use this one while I'm waiting for the new one to arrive. Also, amazon didnt email me the return number. I shouldve just bought a different one from a department store. It's always a risk when you buy Chinese products through amazon.

Good scale for mail pieces
I purchased this specifically for weighing my mail pieces (local usps front line teller honesty is problematic, so, I decided to act accordingly, and have proof of each mail piece's real weight). So far, I find it is easy to use, it seems to be accurate although I have no real way to verify this. The USPS line teller is no longer problematic. I write the weight on each piece, as well as photograph the piece WHILE ON THE SCALE, as back up. (can you believe I have to do this????) Anyway, the scale is doing its job, as far as I know (re accuracy).

Accurate...Unscrew Top Plate for Cleaning.....Oz and Grams
I had (apparently) the previous model of this that I purchased about three years ago, and unfortunately, my wife forgot to remove the scale from on top of our toaster oven when she used it one morning, and the entire bottom melted and warped, however, it actually worked perfectly fine, until the battery finally died last week. I was able to remove the battery, but no battery would go back in because of how warped the bottom was.So I ended up trying a higher priced (higher end?) Taylor scale, and that one was completely flat, the entire unit, so it was hard to pinpoint where things were actually being weight. Meaning, I weight cherry tomatoes, beans, a lot of small foods, and on that higher end model, it wasn't accurately reading it. I could add a few beans on while reading in grams, nothing would happen, and I would add one bean at a time to test it, and all of a sudden it would read 8 grams, for example. That's not good enough for me, so I returned it and purchased a Mainstays one. I liked it, and it seemed accurate, but you would not remove the glass top for cleaning, so I looked on the internet to find one similar to what I had, and I found this one.I returned the Mainstays and this just come in today. I assume I originally had an earlier model, because first thing I noticed is that there was a little screw on the batter compartment. My previous one did now have that. Also, for a minute, I was disappointed because I was not able to remove the glass top for cleaning. My old one, it just lifted off, and that was that. It took me a bit, but I found that you have to actually unscrew this one from the base. There was absolutely no indication of having to unscrew the glass top in the instruction manual.I love that you can UNSCREW the top for cleaning, and just like my previous model just like this one, it is incredibly accurate. I am very happy with the purchase.

Finally - a great scale
All I wanted was an accurate, compact, easy to use scale and I have finally found it! This is great for measuring out the perfect amounts when translating recipes from grams to ounces. I can actually keep up with the British bakers and ensure the perfectly measured amonts!

Not as happy with it as with the previous model - now ...
Not as happy with it as with the previous model - now to change the battery, you need to unscrew a bolt at the back. WHY?
