Q: Can it detect gold and if so can this be programmed in like silver

If you require a metal detector for detecting gold specifically then this is not the detector for you due to the nature of gold, the make up of the soil, size and depth you would be better off with a specialist gold detector . I have reviewed it as an entry level device for someone not wishing to spend too much money on a new hobby. Having said that the Dr Otek is a good introduction to the hobby, I have not found any buried gold on my dig yet but my back garden test beds have shown it is more than capable of finding a buried gold wedding ring it showed up strongly at 70 kHz with a mid tone. But had I not known what I had buried it could also have been zinc. If you set the device to ignore iron then depending on the conditions it will pick up gold between 41 and 75 kHz. Yes it does detect gold, it picked up a very small gold ring up to 10cm.

The one I bought has the same issue, the plug even falls out on its own sometimes. I've tried taping it in to make it more secure.
