FUN! But it's true my 5-year-old struggled with the bike sidecar...not as easy as a 'juniors' type set
My daughter (nearly six) was utterly absorbed in this but got upset over building the side car, which was certainly tricky. I also found that the colors of the pieces aren't always clear from the instructions - when compared with the box, they were clearer. Well, I'm aware that my daughter is at the bottom end of the age range they recommend, so it's fine if it's a bit tricky for her in places .Anyway, she had great fun! I needed to distract my daughter from the tiresome experience of wearing a heart monitor. Since I'm encouraging her interest in lego these days anyway, I bought her this and another smaller set to cheer her up. They completely took her mind off the heart monitor! She wouldn't go to bed till this set was all done, and then wanted to spend ages swapping out the hair of Emma with other minifig hair that we have. BTW, to get the helmet on, you do need to remove the helmet which is comic/creepy...On reflection, I'm glad I didn't get a bigger 'rescue' set I'd considered, which might have frustrated her more...as it is, I'm glad I bought a lot of bricks and baseplates for her upcoming birthday which will complement well the sets like this one. She likes to invent her own structures, and I'm all for it. But it's also nice sometimes to follow directions and see how the Lego designers intended things to be done. The hinged part of the cave and sliding door here are fun. It's a cute set.Judging from this, and the 'lifeguard' set, I am happy that the 'Friends' sets really do involve building, and have themes that are empowering for girls. As long as that's the case, it's no problem at all - far from it - that they have pretty colors that Lego lacked in my childhood, like pink. But you do need to look at what you're buying. Not for me that 'catwalk' set (!!) or the pet salon.

Fun features, and not just for girls
This is a really cute Lego set. My six-year-old and three-year-old boys are obsessed with Legos, and they enjoyed putting this together and playing with it. It's definitely not for girls only. The Friends sets should not be overlooked for little boys, just as the "boy-themed" Lego sets should not be overlooked for girls. There's a really cool sliding door in this set, which my six-year-old thought was great. There's also a little trap door that releases "rocks" near the entrance to the cave. Overall, lots of fun little features on this set, which isn't very large but is totally worth what you pay for it.

An excellent Lego set.
I got this for a seven year old and she loves it! Lego makes some of the best toys in the world and this is no exception - it is tight fitting and the plastics used is very high quality without any chemical smells. I have a sensitive nose and with Legos I do not sneeze. This set is small and only took about thirty minutes from start to finish. After building the set, more play begins!

Great set! My daughter loved that the sidecar detaches from the bike allowing her to play with the bike separately. The secret door inside the cave adds a lot of play value to this set as well. It slides open, allowing access from the back of the cave. Great addition to the jungle playset series!
