You will need a 1/4 drive and some extensions, an 8mm and 10mm sockets and a stubby phillips head screwdriver for this particular actuator (there are three in my Jeep, and this may have been the easy one. Edit: Because it is not OEM, there i a slight glitch that some maybe upset about... OEM blender motor will communicate with your ECM right away, this unit does not, so it takes about 10-20 seconds to find it's last setting when you start up the vehicle. It returns to the same setting you left it on, but it will not blow AC at first start up. Still, no errors or issues, it just has this slight lag at startup. When I installed it, I did not even notice, but when I did, I looked online and sure enough, other people were talking about this. It fits my 2012 200 though. **Q: How do you know where to reattach the arm?** A: It only fits one way. If u look at gear on last picture there is a space in the gear that lines up with slot on HVAC door. Saying that though I bought this unit and it lasted 2 months. Bought Mopar one and it been in over a year still working. **Q: I bought this actuator and had it installed and before the week was up it had already broke. Its says its under warranty, not sure how to access it??** A: This actuator is located behind the glove box. It is a real pain to remove. It is used to open and close your AC vents. When the part goes bad you will hear a clicking sound. I had 2 go bad within a couple weeks. After that I went to my mechanic and he replaced it 2 more times with aftermarket parts. A week ago he ordered one from the dealership and installed it. I was told by my mechanic that the dealer part was a much higher quality. Seems like OEM is the best, but this part works fine for me for a lot less. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ PITA to install but works! *by J***Y on December 13, 2024* The recirc motor in my kids 2016 jeep patriot was making all sorts of banging noises. Holy cr@p though this was a pain to replace! I'm very mechanical and have been working on vehicles for 25 years and this kind of stuff boggles my mind why an engineer would place them where they do. You will have to remove the glove box which is easy. Then remove the cover above the foot well, held in with 2 pop pins. You can reach in and unplug the motor from there easily. But then it will be a struggle with a right angle ratchet screwdriver to get the 2 silver screws out holding this in place. The lower one isn't bad but the top screw is done by feel, completely blind. And you'll have to be lying down across the drivers seat with your head down on the floor contorted and cursing to get to it. They are plain Phillips screws, not even the ones with an 7mm head on them for a socket, which would have made it much easier to remove without the tool slipping off. Make sure the one you remove is aligned properly, it should be in the recirc position when the vehicle is off. There is an alignment tool in the box you can put on a ratchet to move the door, but it's easier to just grab the white plastic end of the damper door by hand and move it if needed. Install is reverse of removal with slightly less cursing. No programming required, start the car and let it move through the recirc and fresh air positions, no more noise. It's worth noting there is a mode actuator and a temp actuator, both are this same part.
