This is the greatest shoe ever made. This is the greatest shoe that I have ever worn and I should add that I am 49 years old and I have worn many shoes. This shoe is more comfortable than my tennis sneakers.I started wearing them around the house because they are more comfortable than my moccasins.I'm a waiter at a restaurant that requires me to have black shoes "that can be polished" along with black pants and a black dress shirt. Problem is that black shoes that can be polished are generally uncomfortable. I bought a pair of what seemed like decent black dress shoes of the Bruno Mars brand on Amazon for around $60. After a couple days of trying inserts, the mild chafing in the toebox gave rise over a few days of being on my feet all day into blisters. The shoes could be worn maybe for a couple hours at a time without pain but not all day.These loafers also look pretty nice with a dark denim and barefoot type look. Just a great looking loafer.I have a pair of Mephistos that I bought 26 years ago - they are the lace-up brown style dress shoes and they have served me well over the years. This is why I was willing to shell out $320 for the loafers. The Mephistors I bought 26 years ago are in excellent condition, no breakdown in the shoe at all after decades of wear and are extremely comfortable but this loafer is maybe a bit more comfortable as far as being snug like a slipper.Mephisto is a great company and it's a great concept to start first with the priority of comfort and adding the design second to the comfort.I can't say enough good things. They are not cheap but I also think they are not terribly overpriced. You can't put a price on lack of foot pain and comfort.
