Since then I’ve tried a variety of strings and I’ve come to the conclusion that the daddario phosphor bronze are simply the most consistent from set to set and for some reason unknown to me seem to have the least problems with intonation on a standard tuned guitar. I have dabbled with both the xt and xs variants as well. For me, there’s are hardly any difference in durability between the standard ej phosphors and the xt’s. The xs does last considerably longer but the feel is much different. I also suspect they have slightly more tension due to the coating but I have not looked at any actual numbers. Im not sure if others have found this to be true, but I cleaned my strings after every practice/play session and for longer periods of practice I will often clean them several times. This significantly increases the string life. They might not retain the brand new zing but the sound is still very pleasing. I will let them go for a full week with several hours a day play time. This is acceptable to me. If I played less they might last longer. All in all a great product. If you need further endorsement, Glaser guitars in Nashville doesn’t used anything else but Daddario.
