It's a bit high to step onto and it's relative lightness (it's portable) means it would probably slide when weight was placed on it in that way. For sitting on it's perfect. Other people may say differently. **Q: Has anyone tried using it at the beach - would it sink in sand or pebbles? And could the sand/stones get inside causing issues with folding it?** A: Can't see why you can't use it on sand/pebbles as long as you find reasonably flat surface. I read a review from someone who uses it for sea fishing I think? I bought mine for a music event but found out we couldn't take it in. It resides in my airing cupboard so I can reach the top shelf.
