They make the stereo sound crisper, or less muffled. It’s not an earth shattering difference, but definitely noticeable and worth the money. It’s probably the first thing I should have changed on the car. They are direct plug-ins, but not direct mounting. I used self-tapping license plate screws (made for tapping plastic capture nuts) to tap the square holes in the speaker bucket under the speaker grille. The square holes closest to the windshield make the most sense. I also elongated the holes in the speaker brackets. That all made for a very clean and secure installation. It took about an hour to do the whole job, because I was very careful to not overdo it. Do yourself a favor and get a small, low profile ratchet with a Phillips bit to make the job go faster. I tried to post photos numerous times, but Amazon won’t upload them for reason.
