I love the quality. The bottom is a nice soft felt, the top is foam to protect knobs and jogs. It "hard" in the sense that it's harder that just plain fabric, but it is still bendable. Not enough protection to travel by itself, but literally perfect for tossing in a suitcase with clothes and stuff while you travel.
