Let the Buyer Beware
Apparently, there is a KNOWN issue with this light (Model MB380, 300 Lumens) and I wouldn't be surprised if the issue won't eventually affect the "Updated" Model (Model MB380, 400 Lumens). The issue is that the light will activate when there is no motion to activate it. It powers on and cycles as if it is stuck in a loop of turning off and on. I have been in touch with the product customer service for the past three weeks now and have been giving the below troubleshooting steps:1. Using brand new batteries from the same pack, per light. (meaning the batteries in one unit are all from the same new pack) We recommend Energizer or Rayovac batteries.2. Insert the batteries with the flat side (negative) of the battery to the spring of the unit.3. Place the light in a well lit room with the sensor facing the light for 10 minutes, then in a dark and motionless room for 10 full minutes to reset the sensors.4. Test the light in a dark room to make sure it activates in the dark. (Due to the photocell sensor the unit will not activate in a well lit area)Is there anything with a heat signature near the light, such as a wifi router, cable modem, heating vent, electric panel, etc?Have you tried placing the light in a different location to see if it works? Maybe test it in a dark bathroom? You can place it on the counter, you don't have to mount it for this testing. If your light is installed outdoors, what are the current temperatures? After following these instructions to the letter, found the light was STILL cycling until I completed these troubleshooting steps:Place the unit in a well lit area for 10 minutes, then in a dark and motion free place for 10 minutes to reset the sensors? If it still cycles after the battery change and reset there could be an issue with the light. The next step would be to look at the warranty on your unit. After completing the last troubleshooting steps, the light NO LONGER cycles, but haven't put it back to full use yet to determine if it back to operational status. In the meantime, I cannot give it higher than the ratings I have already given.**NOTE** As stated earlier, there is a NEWER version of this light with the same model number, just that the Lumens is higher. I do not think I trust the updated version, but, I will at least report my findings to the company to complete our correspondence.

Works Great!
This was our second Mr. Beams MB380 Weatherproof Wireless battery powered light purchase. We purchased the first one years ago and it has worked great for many years. I needed light in a new location so that is the reason for this purchase. We use the lights under a double wide car port so they are protected from rain. But they are exposed to outside air all of the time. We use them to help us see when we return home at night or when we leave the house to get into the cars at night. The only thing we had to "learn" about them is that once the batteries start to get low, the unit will randomly start turning itself on and off every minute or so at night. That's become our key to know to change out the batteries. Either that, or it means that a visiting cat has wondered up to the house again. We have been very happy with both of our purchases and would purchase them again.

It really does work!
I've tried other motion lights and they all seem to have issues. They might not work, are cheaply made, or I can never get the settings just right. This is my first Mr. Beams product and I must stay that it is it works, is nicely made, and has no settings (which in my opinion is good). Pop the batteries in and your done. I installed it under the porch facing out into a dark corner of the yard. I waited until dark to see if it would pick me up and to make adjustments. Thankfully it worked well. I would say that it is probably picking me up between 15-20 feet away. The light is pretty good for a battery operated one and is really puts a shine on that dark area of the yard. Installation was easy but I had trouble with the screws that it came with. They are a bit cheap and my screwdriver ate them up...even with a pre-drilled hole. I liked the fact that this thing doesn't have any settings on it. I've had bad experiences and long hours in the night trying to figure out some of these things with their obscure setting requirements. If it is dark...and you move in front of it...the thing will just come on. Simple as that. It does have to be dark for it to work...so make sure you put it in an area that the sensor will not be affected. It stays on for about 30 seconds when it picks up movement and will continue to stay on if the movement persist. I'm pretty pleased with it and plan on getting another one. I recommend!

ALMOST what I had hoped for in a closet
The motion detection feature on these is EXCELLENT! I purchased this after seeing them at my parents mountain home. They have one tree mounted on each side of their yard to automatically light their path to the house, no matter which direction they come from. In the dark, they are quite bright for their yard and make the walk with confidence a breeze.I bought mine to use in my master closet. It is great for a quick trip in for shoes, a belt, or to hang up clothing, but not quite bright enough for clothing selection while dressing. I have an overhead light in the closet for that, but had hoped not to have to turn it ON and OFF each trip. This light accomplishes what I want most of the time, but is not completely sufficient on its own for closet use. The photos show the lighting level with the motion sensor light alone, and with the overhead light.

Excellent security light
Was looking for a light that wasn't mains powered. Solar lights didn't look powerful enough, so I though I would order this, as the reviews were very good. It is excellent, the motion detection is very good, and it is really bright. So easy to install too. I would highly recommend this light, and would not hesitate to buy again.

Bright White Light at Night
I have several MB 390 models (Brown) and situated in such places as in a Workshop, over an exterior gate way, and in a Swimming Pool Filter Room. All of them have Electronically functioned perfectly from Day One as have all the other Mr Beam products I possess (Yes I am a Serial Mr Beam Offender).Easily assembled/disassembled for fitting Four(4) D batteries(Not Supplied). Power Consumption of 300 Lumens gives out some 400 square Feet of light of coverage it is claimed, which stays on for 30 seconds before the next Movement activates the MB 380/390. There is another feature that I particularly like on the 380/390 and that concerns the positioning of latitudes, both Horizontally & Vertically the Design of the 380/390 gives you.Fixing the base unit to a Wall/Ceiling, allows you to swivel the MB 380/390 through 360 Degrees. Once you have decided on the position you require, a thumb screw on the side of the Base Unit allows you to lock the main Light into position. Then the Main Unit containing the Light and batteries, can be moved vertically through 180 Degrees and also like the base unit, has a Thumb Screw that locks the Lamp into the Position you require, making the MB 380/390 very versatile. However, a Word of Warning: In using the MB 380/MB 390 in an outside environment around your house, I would advise that you position the unit out of the reach of anybody with sticky fingers as the Thumbscrews for adjusting the MB 380, do make the unit an easy target for theft.Because of the Weather Proofing track record of the Brown version(MB 390), I decided to add the White Model(MB 380) to my collection for fitting to an outside White Painted Wall. As with the Brown versions, I was not disappointed with the White versions bad weather capabilities. Not a trace of dampness/moisture in the interior of the unit was found, in spite of frequent Rain Storms over a 3 week period. One Minor Irritation: The Brown Version(MB 390) costs £28.94 and the White Version(MB 380) costs £36. Why the difference??Be that as it may, I cannot praise Mr Beam products enough, particularly this MB 380 Ultra Bright Spotlight, White.
