You will run out of the oil before the soap but that is not a complaint! Great way to be able to try different formulations without buying the more expensive larger sizes. My skin loves this! ### ⭐⭐⭐ 3.0 out of 5 stars Okay cleansers *by M***K on Reviewed in the United States on July 21, 2018* I really appreciate when brands give you these small sizes to try out pricey products, and this set is a nice introduction to two cleansers (plus a tiny packet of the serum). I can't say these do anything as whiteners, but I don't expect cleansers to do much for whitening since they don't stay on the face long enough to be much use (beyond cleaning). I still think it's misleading to call these "whitening," but I'll give them a pass for standard beauty marketing practice in this case.The package has a really strong fragrance when you unbox the set, but the products don't seem to have a strong lingering fragrance when you use them. But if your skin reacts to products with fragrance, be aware that these do have lots of it.As for cleaning... The oil isn't as "oily" as others cleansing oils I've tried and actually rinses off much better, which I like about it. You shake the bottle to "activate" it - basically to mix the ingredients. The mouth of the bottle is big, so it's tough to pour out only a small amount at a time. The instructions say to use it "generously," but I find that a dime-sized amount is more than enough. Rub it in, rinse it off, and your face is supposed to be cleansed of makeup. Except that it's not, in my case. After using this oil, my They're Real! Benefit mascara, for example, has just been rubbed onto the skin around my eyes. Any residual lipstick still comes off on the towel. So you kind of have to follow with the cleansing bar to get the rest off - so why use the oil, in that case?The bar lathers very nicely. The instructions tell you to rub the bar on your face for "exfoliating," but I honestly can't see how rubbing the bar does any kind of exfoliating. Some bars have granules for exfoliation, but this one doesn't - it's just a bar of soap. It does get rid of the rest of my makeup, and it rinses pretty well. I do find that water beads up on my face after I use this, so I'm not sure if it's leaving residue from the oil or if it's depositing something (maybe it's those elusive "whiteners"!). My face gets very dry and tight a couple of minutes after I finish with this set, so I don't think it's doing anything for moisture retention.Overall, this set seems... okay. Once I've used this up, I'll go back to my La Mer cleansing gel, which removes makeup and cleanses in one step, with a tiny, measured amount, with almost no fragrance. Recommended for Erno Laszlo fans who want to try this new line, but not really for anyone else. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars A nicer way to wash your face *by R***6 on Reviewed in the United States on August 2, 2018* This was my first time with this cleanser from Erno Laszlo, and wow...what a luxurious experience. I've done the whole double cleansing thing before, especially when wearing makeup as this is the most effective way to ensure the makeup and that day's yuck is fully removed from my skin. Even with using a makeup removing balm or oil first and a gentle cleanser second, my skin would often feel tight and dry. When I opened up this package and saw the solid bar of soap, I admit my heart sank a little and I immediately thought "Great, this soap is going to dry my face out and I'm going to hate this kit." The first step, the cleansing oil, dissolves even waterproof makeup fairly easily. Maybe it's the small size of the bottle, but you have to screw the top off to pour some oil into your hand so be careful not to knock over the bottle. I was expecting a flip-top or tilt lid, but no such luck. The bar soap lathers well and cuts through the cleansing oil, but surprisingly doesn't completely strip your skin. When I was done rinsing, my face was clean and my skin was soft (though I still needed to follow up with moisturizer). The black tray that slides into the patterned white cover has a spot for the cleansing oil bottle and for the soap. The soap side also has little holes and little bumps to allow for airflow so the bar won't end up with a slimy bottom. When the bar is dry, the black tray slides into the cover for storage and is nice enough to sit out on your sink.The star deduction comes from the cost versus what you receive. While the case is nice and pretty, it's pretty one use unless you can find other products that fit into the little sections. Might not be too hard for the soap side, but you would have to reuse the cleansing oil bottle most likely. The bottle of cleansing oil is quite small, about the size of a deluxe sample from Sephora. The soap bar is also small, though a bit larger than what would be considered a deluxe sample size. You don't need much oil or soap to clean your face well, but $30 is a bit much.
