I've oiled it thoroughly, but it won't open with only the thumb stud. The mechanism is just too tight.** A: This knife is designed to be taken apart with either an allen wrench or trox driver. You should be able to loosen the front pivot point with a small allen wrench. Mine, right out of the box is smooth and opens with a firm push of the thumb, no lube other then factory stuff. If all else fails read the instructions, I lost mine somewhere, so good luck. **Q: The description says "assisted opening", but I thought this model was manual opening? Is it assisted or not?** A: The shizuka noh ken is practically the same knife, but with assisted opening added. If you want assisted, I'd recommend that, there appears to be no other discernable differences **Q: Will this knife fit in molle loops? I would like to carry it in the molle on the side of my backpack but can't find measurements of the closed width.** A: Width is approximately 1 and 1/16 inches by 7/16 inches. This is my daily carry knife now. I consider the size and weight of this knife to be adequate. **Q: I just received this knife and opened the blade easily. But I can't fold it back. It's on the back of the blade near where it pivots . Just press that tab down to disengage the secondary lock .
