I actually bought this to add stability to a metal towel rack I got on desertcart (see attached picture). The towel rack seems somewhat unstable, and I noticed other similar towel racks have a weight like this attached, Note that the center hole for this umbrella stand actually has a stopper about 1.25 inches up from the bottom. This is a nice feature to keep the umbrella pole up off of your deck surface so it doesn’t scratch or rust on the deck surface. Unfortunately I will have to cut it out with a hole saw to slide it over the towel rack pole. But however you plan to use this stand, I would recommend it without question. You tighten it with a screw if it is too small. Stand can be filled with water or sand. It will save your umbrella from high winds! **Q: How is the stand filled?** A: There is a plugged opening through which you can add sand (recommended by Seller) or water (which we and others have used successfully) and replug it. Whether water is sufficient for weighting it will depend on your conditions. **Q: Will a 2 inch pole?** A: No, it will NOT. The listing says 1.75 inches. I just measured it with calipers and between the ridges the diameter is actually 1.615. It's plastic, so you could probably get a 1 3/4" post in there, but there is no way a 2" post is going in. **Q: What is volume?
