Works great for plain steels under 60 HRC. Ok for kitchen knives 60-64 HRC. Just a little slow on harder carbon steels. Would not recommend if you are sharpening high carbide steels (s110v, hap40, magnacut, cruwear…) really anything with more than a few percent vanadium is too much for an Arkansas stone.
