During lockdown my laptop use increased from approximately 1 hour a day to 4-6 hours a day. I always used it on my lap and on a thick cushion, because I was aware of potential heat issues. I developed a slight ache/pain in my left leg just above the knee but didn't relate this to my laptop use. This slowly spread down my leg, and then up to my hip. Nothing drastic just a slight ache, but it slowly got worse to the point where I started using pain killers at night to dull the hip pain. I put it down to age and was at the point of seeking medical advice, but thought I would try moving the laptop up onto a table first to see if that made any difference. Within two weeks the pain that had been there everyday and had been steadily building for almost two years was 90% better, a month later it had completely gone. My leg had been weakened, and my knee was painful if knelt on but exercise has fixed all of that. It was caused by the laptop, I am 100% certain . I bought this mat as a precaution, although I will never use a laptop on my lap again.
