Product Description Maintain and restore your vinyl record collection Vinyl Clear is designed for the cleaning and maintenance of vinyl records, formulated to meet the requirements of the audio and music industry. Since becoming available to the public in 2012, Vinyl Clear has been used by audiophiles and music professionals for its reliable performance. Our unique cleaning-fluid formulation contains high-purity ingredients designed to penetrate the record groove to gently soften and lift away dust and debris. This 'Deep Track Cleansing' process allows the fluid to reach the base of the vinyl groove, which is why Vinyl Clear is used by various recording studios for their record maintenance needs. How to keep your vinyl in perfect condition Step 1 - Preparation Choose a flat, stable, clean surface on which to place one of the microfibre cloths. Lay the vinyl to be cleaned onto the cloth. Best Practice Tip You'll need 2 full-sized microfibre cloths to clean vinyl properly. One to lay the vinyl on, the other to clean. Without them the risk of damage and contamination increases. Step 2 - Spraying Using a semi-circular motion, spray the fluid directly onto the surface of the vinyl, avoiding the centre label. Allow fluid to penetrate and clean for 5-10 seconds before wiping (longer for badly soiled records). Depending on the condition of the vinyl 2-3 sprays per side should be sufficient for a 12” record, 2 for a 7” record. Step 3 - Cleaning Use the 2nd cloth to wipe around in a circular motion at least 4-6 times around the record. Then wipe from the inner edge of the record to the outer edge at an angle of 45 degrees until dry. Professionals don't use Velvet Brushes to clean vinyl because 1. There's up to 30x more surface cleaning area on a cloth. 2. They are harder to keep clean as they can't be immersed in deionised water. 3. Brushes are made with velvet or low grade microfibre cloth which are not audiophile quality cleaning materials. Step 4 - Drying Repeat 1 to 3 if necessary. Leave the record to dry on the cloth for between 30-60 seconds. Carefully flip the record over and repeat the process on the other side. Wait for the record to dry. Now you're ready to play. Professionals never use wet wipes to clean vinyl as they tend to deposit more than they remove. How to keep your stylus in perfect condition The Stylus Clear bottle and applicator gives two cleaning options 1, Cleaning the stylus with the fluid or 2, if prefered using the Stylus Brush dry. When using the Stylus Clear fluid 1. If possible remove the stylus from the cartridge, or the cartridge from the tonearm. 2. With the stylus face up, pointing towards you, apply the fluid with the brush applicator. 3. Start at the rear of the stylus working along the cantilever, moving towards you. 4. Allow to fully dry (about 30 seconds) before replacing. Best Practice tip. Professionals avoid the use of 'dip in' Stylus Gel cleaners because higher quality styli cantilevers can be very fragile. Using a stylus gel on these cantilevers increases the probability of bending or snapping when being removed from the sticky gel.

The cover to the record is in poor condition, but the vinyl appeared to be a diamond in the rough. Lots of surface gunk, dust and 45 year old finger prints. I applied 3 sprays of Vinyl Solution as instructed, let it sit for longer than the 5-10 seconds due to the level of soiling. Still following the instructions, I wiped the record with the included micro fibre cloth. This first pass shifted around 80% of visible contamination, 100% of greasy finger prints and around 35% of heavy contamination. I opted to do a second pass, concentrating on the heavily soiling. Still using 3 sprays, but letting it dwell for around 60 seconds before wiping away the residue. This time, the solution had managed to remove some of the ingrained dirt completely but some persistent muck remained. However, my cleaning machine did not manage to remove those marks completely. Once dried, using the provided stand, I placed the record on to my turntable. Usually, Inise a record brush to remove surface dust and reduce static, but wanted to hear the results of the cleaning without additional methods. I was pleasantly surprised to hear only 2 clicks as the stylus started its journey across the record. One those clocks being the stylus landing on the record. As the record played, I was further impressed at the lack of record noise. There was some pops and crackles, but that’s what you get with records. Even more so ones that have been badly treated like this copy of Physical Graffiti. After the first track, I used the cleaning brush to see if that had an effect on static noise. Playing the track again, the level of static was around the same which suggests the Vinyl Solution has some a very good clean indeed. For a very small outlay, Vinyl Solution returned some very impressive and consistent results with all of the records I have cleaned with it. It is fantastic at cleaning and maintaining records, reducing static and a little goes a long way, especially if you follow the instructions. Pros: Does exactly as advertised, cleans very dirty records and reduces static significantly. Cons: The supplied record stand is a bit flimsy, but is okay for what it does. No instructions provided for using the stylus cleaning liquid supplied in the kit. Highly recommended.
Review: A (rare) product that actually delivers! - I could not have been more skeptical when ordering this kit - knowing how fussy vinyl can be. Surely i didn't expect that the usual bottles of isopropylic alcohol - one bigger for the discs, another smaller for stylus cleaning - plus the two humble looking 'towels' for wiping the records would do much more than a cursory, shallow cleaning of old, dusty records. I'm not often wrong about these do-it-all cheap products - but this time I was! Spraying that alcohol-based liquid on the disc and then wiping it with the special 'towels' actually works! I managed to make some unlistenable, dusty and static-riddled old records sound rather decent, with less noise and pops and generally a clearer sound. The stylus wet-cleansing brush also does a much better job than a dry brush. All in all, a well thought-out product which is actually tremendously useful. We should salute those rare instances (these days) when a company actually comes up with a quality product which is not than a BS gimmick to sell to desertcart beginners. One piece of advice: just use more liquid when spraying it on the vinyl - much more than the maker advises. The results are pretty stunning - for the price. And you even get a support for drying the records! 🙂

I‘be been a record collector for decades and have tried more cleaning solutions than I can remember. For really dirty records, those from charity shops for example, I use an electronic cleaning machine. However, it’s a pain to set up and I wanted to see if any solution could provide me with decent results. I went for vinyl clear based upon reviews and value offered. Item arrived and looked exactly as advertised. Simple and quick instructions are provided too, which is good for those of who hate reading instructions because we know best. I decided to give the Vinyl Clear a chance to give a good first impression. Selecting a recent charity shop find, a first pressing of Led Zeppelin Physical Graffiti. The cover to the record is in poor condition, but the vinyl appeared to be a diamond in the rough. Lots of surface gunk, dust and 45 year old finger prints. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Pretty good as long as you persevere with it.

I must admit, the first time I used this cleaner I thought it was pretty rubbish. It got most of the dirty marks off but as for getting the dust out of the grooves, it was pretty useless. So then I tried it again. I thought I would try cleaning the same record twice, there were noticeable improvements, less crackles when playing back. I have found out that you really need to clean a record at least three times to get it to remove most of the dust from the grooves if it is very dusty. Also you need to spray a lot more on the record than it states to do any good. So it can end up costing quite a bit if you have quite a few dirty records to clean, because you will soon run out of the spray. I have found that it is best to use the cloths just until the spray runs out, because they do get dirty. I then order another lot with new cloths again, instead of washing the cloths, because you could do more harm than good if something is in the cloths from the washing process. Word of warning, make sure to wipe off any excess of the spray that goes on the label straight away, otherwise you may find it ruins it. The stand supplied is not really very good, but once you figure out which way to use it, it does its job. I can’t comment on the small bottle of stylus cleaner because I haven’t really used it enough to see if it actually works, but the brush won’t be hard enough to get any stubborn dirt off anyway.
