My Browning A-5 fails to cycle below zero, fairly often.** A: I've owned about 20 gun lubes. THIS M-Pro 7 stuff is pretty thick viscosity wise, probably better for summer time use. I recommend that you check out G96 synthetic CLP. Its one of the only lubes that the Canadian police force is allowed to use, as it has excellent cold flow properties. **Q: How well would this work on knives and swords for protection and rust prevention?** A: I don't have any swords, but I use M-Pro7 Gun Oil LPX to provide lubrication and to protect the metal from rust on the folding and locking mechanisms and blades of all my folding blade knives, and on the blades of all my fixed blade knives, machetes,tactical tomahawks, hatchets and axes, plus on all my padlock tumbler mechanisms, gun safe locking bars, fishing reels . . . . . oh, and I also use it on all my pistols, revolvers, shotguns, rifles and carbines after cleaning them. Two suggestions on using M-Pro7 GunOil LPX that I believe you will find very valuable. This product was designed and formulated to bond molecularly with the metal surfaces to which it is applied. Therefore, it isn't necessary to apply a heavy coating of it to the metal surfaces you want to protect. Apply some M-Pro7 Gun Oil to a cloth and rub the cloth on the metal blade surfaces. Also, avoid applying M-Pro7 Gun Oil to wood, rubber, SOFT plastics, bone, antler, and other non-metallic surfaces, as it could POSSIBLY. BUT NOT POSITIVELY, darken or discolor them. You always have to be careful using any chemicals on items made with soft or porous surfaces to avoid possible discoloration. Other than that, I think M-Pro7 Gun Oil LPX is a fantastic product and I never come close to running out of it because I keep finding new uses for it. If something moves around my house, I might be lubricating it with M-Pro7 gun Oil! **Q: Being a biodegradable product, does any of M-Pro 7s items have expiration dates?** A: I've used this product for a very long time. I use the 4oz bottle at home & keep a 2oz bottle in my range/bugout bag. (The 4oz bottle being a much better value.) So to answer your question, the M-Pro 7 Gun Oil LPX has no expiration date. Since this is the only one of their products I use, I can't comment on any other items they sell.
