It's has more of a slick oily feel. The balm on the other hand is protein based and works similar to a mini keratin treatment, where the proteins bond to the hair surface and keep the hair straight. This texture is more like a lotion, but a little still goes a long way. Some hair straightens better with protein and some hair doesn't like protein so much. My hair loves protein due to being damaged and while more silicone based products do work, my hair stays straight much longer with protein. **Q: Is this product like a leave-in frizz reducer for curly hair conditioning item?** A: I have very curly, frizzy hair without this product. This product relaxes my my unruly hair, tames the frizzing and smells nice. I also use the super skinny balm for my dry ends. This is just like a keratin Brazilian blow-dry but without the price tag and the lengthy process. My hair is naturally curly and very frizzy, especially when there’s a lot of humidity and moisture in the air nothing really tames it, but this is just amazing and keeps my hair frizz-free and easy to style. I use it on towel dried hair, blow-dry as normal then straighten it - You have to use hair straighteners to activate the product and there’s no need to re-apply the balm until the next wash.
