The tin says it (750ml) will do 30 metres squared. I have done a 12 metre squared area of spruce floor boards and used maybe 2/5 of the tin so I am confident the cloth application method has enabled me to achieve the optimum application rate. So coverage estimation was pretty accurate. The smell of the product is pretty congenial as well… it sort of combines with the freshly sanded wood smell So overall ease of application and product quality were great. It would have been better though if I had been able to obtain a sample sachet as fast as I could obtain a large tin as this is a very expensive product and I would have liked to have been able to test it first. Having used the clear satin before which does affect the colour as per again, internet research which backs up my personal findings, if you want to keep the natural colour, this does it. The photos show it going on in the guest photo, and the finished look in the second photo. The third photo compares it to a polyurethane varnish in satin finish showing how much darker the wood could go if I did not get it right. The wood is spruce. Applied it with micro fibre roller. 2 coats. See no change in the wood colour or texture. I have yet to know whether it has worked as being stain resistant as we are still very careful with what we place on the shelf. Very pleased with the appearance though. **Q: Can this be used to protect furniture that's been painted with emulsion ? I don't want to use regular varnish as that darkens paint tone** A: Hi Would suspect that not such a good Idea to put over Emulsion paint. Personally I would strip off the paint back to bare wood and then apply the varnish application varies so after each coat lightly rub over with low grade sand paper and keep doing until the right shade is achieved. If that sounds like a problem then strip off emulsion put on a varnish stain and then apply the Polyx Oil. **Q: This product has left White marks all over my lovely oak floor any suggestions how I remove them please?** A: I put this stuff on with a brush and wiped excess away with rag and still got a white sheen. You can buy this as a 5ml sample sachet, so if you have a surplus piece of wood or a discrete areas you could do a test patch first. 3044 Raw has a touch of white pigment to counter the natural darkening effect of a solvent based product and is intended for use on light coloured woods to keep them looking as close as possible to the original appearance. regarding the problems on Oak, if the moisture content of the wood hasn't dropped below about 20% then that moisture will repel the oil and prevent it from absorbing properly, which may account for the problem described. Really easy to work with. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Wood protector. *by P***D on 11 January 2026* This is a form of hard wax oils that absorb into the wood, there are various shades which to choose from. the one I used was 3044 Transparent raw, this was applied to oak finished doors and the finish was as natural to the oak as I could get as some of the others would give a slight orange/warm tint. This Osmo was the type which was white in colour in the tin. the 750mm tin i had did five (5) full doors both sides and two coats. the way I applied the wax oil was with a brush and a micro cloth I would advise to look on "U" tube for application hints.
