The biggest surprise is how confidently it carries a heavy setup. My Canon R5C with the Canon 100-400 L lens is about 2.5 kg and the clip has handled hikes and scrambles without any drama. It holds fine even without the lock engaged. For my own peace of mind I flick the lock on when I'm moving fast or jumping so I'm not tempting fate. Security is another win. In busy cities and when travelling, having the camera clipped to my strap feels far safer than carrying it in my hand. Even unlocked, someone would have to understand the release to get it off you, which is unlikely and not exactly subtle. With the lock on, pickpocketing is basically a non-starter. Comfort depends on your loadout. My kits aren't the lightest and after a full day I notice the extra weight on the shoulder where the camera sits. It's rated to hold up to 90 kg (200 lbs). The bottom plate screws into your camera (like a tripod plate would) and can be adjusted to sit further back or forward so it doesn't interfere with pull- out screens. Then you just have to scream the clip to something solid - I have mine on the left hand strap of my backpack - but I also have the PROPad which lets you attach it lower on belt (kind of like a holster). You could also just put it straight onto your belt but I find that difficult to clip and unclip (it's just a weird place). I use mine almost every day with a SONY a7riii, admittedly that is a mirrorless so reasonably light body - but with a 135mm sigma lens on, the weight soon builds up. It manages fine. **Q: is this new version metal? i have the old version which in cold weather the camera was difficult to get in and out of the strap. anyone have this too** A: Yes, this one is all metal, works well, although getting the camera in and out can sometimes be a little tricky. You need to develop the knack, it takes a little practise. I bought this clip in preparation for a weekend away where I would be taking lots of photo's. The clip was easy to fit and didn't interfere with the comfort of the bag. Clipping the camera in and out was fast, simple and most importantly, secure! I carried a Sony A7III with a 70-350MM lens for 2 days with any problems.
